Major Delegate Surge *****Obama gains 5 Delegates in two days*******
As compiled by different sources by DEMCONWATCH - The most impartial and up to date authority on all delegate matters.
http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/01/superdelegate-list.html

(FYI Add on Delegates: Add on delegates are 81 Super Delegates who are being selected in process as state parties have have conventions. So far 11 Add on delegates have been selected since Feb 23rd. Of these 6 have endorsed Obama 1 has endorsed Clinton and 4 have not yet announced a clear endorsement.)
http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/03/add-on-superdelegate-selection-schedule.html

This weekend Obama claims 5 new delegate endorsements while Clinton lost 2 and added one for a net loss of one delegate. Obama's net gain in terms of leading Senator Clinton this weekend is plus 6. Since super Tuesday Obama has a net gain of 71 Super Delegates.

In Superdelegate Count, Tough Math for Clinton

The hill that Hillary Rodham Clinton must climb to beat Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination will grow a little steeper on Monday, as it has most days lately.

Margaret Campbell, a Montana state legislator, plans to declare her support for Senator Obama, of Illinois. She becomes the 69th superdelegate he has picked up since the Feb. 5 coast-to-coast string of primary elections and caucus votes.

In the same period, Senator Clinton, of New York, has seen a net loss of two superdelegates, according to figures from the Obama campaign that Clinton aides do not dispute. That erosion may dim Mrs. Clinton’s remaining hopes even more than internal campaign turmoil, which led to the ouster on Sunday of the campaign’s chief strategist, Mark Penn.

1)Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee who endorsed Obama back in July of 2007 was selected yesterday as an 'add-on superdelegate'

Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee endorsed U.S. Senator Barack Obama in his bid for President today, making her the first Missouri Democratic statewide elected official to endorse a presidential candidate.

Montee also announced the formation of "Missouri Women for Obama," an organization she will chair.

2)Rob Carver add on delegate for Obama
Rob Carver was a very early supporter of Senator Obama as this blog from one year ago shows:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/blog/robcarver/2007/04/

3) Yvette Alexander Add on Delegate for Obama
DC City Council Member is added as a superdelegate.

/@mx_150@my_150
4)Dan Hannaher Add on delegate for North Dakota
Hannaher said he would be helping to develop North Dakota grass-roots support networks for Obama, whom he called "the most remarkable public figure of my life, really, at this point."

"I probably put a bit of a heavy weight on Barack's shoulders because I sense true greatness in him," Hannaher said. "He just is a transformational figure, I think, for this country."

Hannaher, who runs a Fargo office supply business, was the state Democratic chairman from 1995 to 1997.

Hildebrand, in a telephone conference call on Tuesday, said Obama's campaign would "build county-based organizations" across North Dakota. "Just because the headquarters is in Fargo doesn't necessarily mean anything, other than that is the physical location."

5)Margaret Campbell, a Montana state legislator a member of the Assiniboine tribe in Montana has been selected as an add on delegate.

5 coast-to-coast string of primary elections and caucus votes.

that link is here and it is significant because their last poll showed Obama behind by 11 points

Here is another poll
http://www.southernpoliticalreport.com/storylink_43_318.aspx

Showing similar results

April 3, 2008 — The latest InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion Survey shows Sen. Hillary Clinton clinging to a 2-point lead in the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary. The telephone survey of likely registered Democratic voters, conducted April 2, has been weighted for age, race and gender. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.7%. The results are:

Clinton: 45%
Obama: 42%
Undecided: 12%*

23. How much of this, do you think, is affected by the campaign cash?
... since Senator Obama has been able to air ads non-stop, while Senator Clinton has had to ease up on her advertising budget. I'm thinking it's not just the ads, it's the message and possibly the SEIU thing (and maybe Casey's endorsement?), that's helping Pennsylvania look more like Wisconsin's primary.

Good stuff!

27. Exactly. She's let go of her own message to defend her "chances"
That's usually a sign that the inner workings of the campaign are crumbling and people who once volunteered or contributed in some way are now beginning to bail.

33. Yep - on the nose
That's what I meant by the SEIU thing. It stymies me that Senator Clinton, who has gone on record opposing free trade with Colombia, would have as her campaign manager the chief executive of a company that was hired by Colombia to lobby FOR free trade.

48. This one will stick ...

Hillary is intimately involved with a NAFTA architect (her husband). The fact that she is employing Free Trade Shills will not look good for her. It's not that China isn't following the rules. They ARE following the rules that our stupid government officials set up. Regretfully, one of the fools was Bill Clinton.

7. There's every chance that Obama will erase Clinton's superdelegate lead by the time PA votes.
That seems likely to have some effect on perceptions of the race as regards her already nearly nonexistent chances of securing the nomination.

13. Remember a few weeks ago, the report that Obama had 50 SDs in the pipeline
Well, it's starting to look like that wasn't any bluff. It looks like they have the drip-drip-drip scheduled.

Obama: "Hey!!! What are you doing there?"

SD: "I'm climbing on your bandwagon, sir."

Obama: "Fair enough, but you'll have to get in line and wait your turn just like everyone else. Let's see, we have an opening for April 24th. How does that work for you?"

This is really one of the smartest campaigns we have seen in modern times. And coming after two of the dumbest Presidential campaigns ever, this is very welcome to see.

most are long time Obama loyalists being elected to open Super Delegate positions.

In addition to this there is a weakening of super delegates for Clinton.

And there've been a few comments from some prominent superdelegates whose endorsement could have a significant effect in swaying support among the remaining uncommitteds, too (Jimmy Carter, most recently).

65. With the Clinton camp spinning how any type of win in PA
could "turn it around for her" (of course completely devoid of reality), I think that maybe the SDs may not want to give her any more fuel to feed the bonfire of the vanities that has become her campaign. The longer this drags on, the greater the chance that the Clinton campaign will cause disruptions at the convention.

43. there is so much more to report
there are a bunch of add on delegates that we know are going to be appointed that we already know are long time supporters of Obama.

Also there is another group of Clinton supporters that have indicated that they will change once that Obama has 51% of the pledged delegates.

Then there are guys like Pres Carter who have indicated who they are voting for but are not counted because they haven't formally endorsed.

The numbers here represent very firm Obama numbers and very soft Clinton numbers.

61. Well if Hillary had picked up 5 SDs in one weekend it would have been greater than 'major'
Its all a question of relativity.

The 5 delegates counted this weekend are a larger net gain than the combined net gain of these 4 states:

New Hampshire
New Mexico
Wyoming
Missouri

63. Regarding "delegate surge"
Could it be possible that the wheels are coming off the formidable Clinton "steam-rolling machine"?
