Why OBama will win the General Election - If you think Hillary can win, tell us why.
Edited on Sun Apr-06-08 04:16 PM by FrenchieCat
We often talk about what it is that we dislike about candidates running against our chosen candidate, and those posts are evident everywhere in this forum. And so, I've decided to opt for this thread to discuss what is it is that we like about our respective candidate.

I can't list everything that I like about my candidate because that list would be too long, so I will, therefore, only list 10 reasons why I like my candidate as much as I do and that is why he can win the GE.

What I like about my candidate, and why he will win the General Election

My candidate is energetic, youthful, charismatic, good looking, authentic, earnest, confident, and intelligent. In other words, my candidate has "IT".

My candidate is an awesome strategic organizer who has revolutionized the way that a political campaign should be ran and the way that money can and should be raised. His campaign has been close to flawless, especially for a practically unknown, who by all status quo measures should not have gotten to where he is in this campaign.

My candidate communicates like a leader and conveys the leadership qualities that we need in this country right now. He speaks in common sense terms about what is right and what is wrong with this country, and how we, by participating and doing our due diligence, can make it better.

My candidate understood that the Iraq War was a war that didn't have to be fought, and that this administration lied us into a war by presenting faulty intelligence and stoking the element of fear in its appeals.

My candidate appeals to a wide range of voters; from the highly educated to those who have the least among us. From the liberals to the conservatives. This is because he understands that we all want the same things, and that this want makes us more similar than we actually realize.

My candidate has energized young people all over, and is pointing to the future in terms of what is possible, instead of pointing to the past. In other words, My candidate represents the type of change and hope that I have for my country.

My candidate has put a whole new electoral map into play, by organizing and energizing 48 states. My candidate puts Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Virginia, Nevada, and even North Dakota, Montana and Kansas on our possibilities of additional states that can be won in a General Election. I'm tired of losing due to the same ol' formulas time and time again. I'm tired of the 17 State strategy that doesn't seem to have worked anymore.

My candidate has coattails, and the very real possibility of bringing with him a veto proof majority in both houses of congress.

My candidate has studied the constitution, taught the constitution, believes in the constitution and will uphold the constitution of the United States of America.

My candidate will signal to the whole world that America is back and that America is exactly what America says that it is; the land of opportunity and equality. That in America anything is possible, and that we are a people of good will and that we practice true democracy.

Why do you like your candidate?

1. You said it well so there's not much I can add, other than
John McSame is NOT the leadership this country needs.

I hope most Hillary supporters agree.

By the way you did a great analysis of which states are in play now....

Iowa, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Virginia, Nevada, and even North Dakota, Montana and Kansas

2. I also like Obama's stance on a majority of the issues.....
although not 100%.

I'm waiting for more contributions, in particular, from the supporters of another candidate. :)

I'll just keep kicking this.

Maybe I'll compile 10 more reasons that I like my candidate.....as I have them you know.

5. Don't expect 10 more reasons from the Hillary folks
They are hung up on the fact that she's a woman who used to be First Lady of the USA, that's reason enough to them.

They don't think they really NEED any more reasons! One is enough, plus Hillary wants to be the Prez... that's all that counts to them, give Mama what she wants.

6. Love your pics!
By the way, my thread asking Hillary folks to give us a reason why Hillary should win the argument for super delegates? No Hillary supporter bothered to respond so far.

Strange!

Hillary supporters seem to be good at insults to Obama, and to Obama supporters, but not good at logic, math, reasoning, and selling their candidate to the American people, nor even good at selling their candidate to the super delegates.

Go figure!

22. Yea, that's a real good reason to support a candidate.
For instance,Bush got two daughters. I imagine at the age of Obama daughters those two were also reasonably cute.
There is a good reason right there.

Plain spoken; I don't have to decipher the underlying context to get to the true meaning of his spoken words.
Is proving to be tactically as well as strategically aware of the political landscape around him.
Running a campaign of inclusion, not divide and conquer.
Bringing back the Democratic Party from corporate control.
Squashing the DLC agenda and those that would sell the party to the highest bidder.
He has a hot wife.
His political ambition doesn't exceed his grasp of political reality.

30. Only with superdelegates is it mathematically possible -
and that is what she is counting on. She only has to stay in until Pennsylvania to get another boost, and then she takes it to convention. She and Bill (especially Bill) will put pressure on those superdelegates to go her way. Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry have the power and money to not be beholden to anyone, but others will be more intimidated.

It is not going to be pretty if she gets to convention, because she can win very easily there and then we are stuck with her versus McCain. Even if democrats "fall in line" (her words) to vote for her, she still has the moderates to win over. She's not a well-liked woman so I don't see that going her way.

40. That's simply not true. There are several delegate calculator sites around...
... and they consistently show that she can win if she can put up not impossible numbers -- roughly 65%-35%over all the primaries. It's highly improbable, but hardly impossible.

41. On the contrary -- this is a lottery with only two players.
Staying with the lottery simile, if Obama buys 35% of the tickets and she buys 65% from here out, she's in great shape. Not likely, but hardly impossible.

23. The Clinton years were the best in modern history for all Americans
What can you dislike about all that peace and prosperity? Meanwhile, her opponent is an empty suit with the thinnest resume in modern history, essentially an affirmative action candidate only there because of a dishonest campaign that portrays him as post racial.

26. Nice that you spoke of something you like about your candidateS,
But why you chose to diss their opponent, whom I support, can only be because you have no self control and are into the race thing to an extend which makes me uncomfortable everytime I see your name and your avatar.

After this response to you from me, you are now on ignore, due to the fact that you have demonstrated time and time again to be a very racially prejudiced individual, and I'm going to let that be your problem, not mine.

From now on, every Democratic primary will be built around who plays the race card the best. That's Hillary's opponent's legacy.

He also shows a consistency in his message and behaviour (on media interviews, Senate meetings, Rallies, etc.) that shows he will continue that pattern behind the doors in the White House.
