Obama battles to limit expectations in Pennsylvania - Reuters
Obama battles to limit expectations in Pennsylvania
Thu Apr 3, 2008 5:11am EDT

-snip-

But publicly, at least, he's not raising expectations of
a win in the state's April 22 nominating contest. Most
recent polls have put him behind Clinton, although
the race has tightened.

-snip-

EXPECTATIONS MATTER

If his campaigning further narrows the gap in the polls,
expectations of an upset victory will grow and a loss
would then be doubly painful.

"If he doesn't win, he doesn't want it written that he
put in maximum effort, and if he gets it into single
digits he claims victory and says, 'Yes, I can do well
with these voters," said Terry Madonna, professor of
public affairs at Franklin and Marshall College in
Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He said Obama, to do well, needed to score big in the
largest city, Philadelphia, and its suburbs, where
blacks make up a high proportion of Democrats, and
must limit losses elsewhere.

1. Obama will win with +7%
It will be just above the margin of error for the exit polls, and will shut the HRC camp down cold.

This could be the time for Hillary supporters to see the hand writing on the wall, and pack it in.

Actually it is a little less subtle than hand writing on the wall; it is a huge roadside sign saying:

GO HOME HILLARY.

17. I don't smoke, toke, or joke
Hillary would have been a good Vice President if she were not such a stranger to the truth.

18. Hillary is spending as much time recanting her previous stories as she is coming up with new ones
Bosnia, Bill Richardson, insurance payments for instance.

Sounds like the Bridge keeper seen from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"

Bridgekeeper: Stop. Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see.
Bridgekeeper: Stop. What... is your name?
Galahad: Sir Galahad of Camelot.
Bridgekeeper: What... is your quest?
Galahad: I seek the Grail.
Bridgekeeper: What... is your favourite colour?
Galahad: Blue. No, yel...

Galahad: auuuuuuuugh.

Hillary: I shook the hand of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King in Chicago
Hillary: auuuuuuuugh.

2. For once, his campaign is doing a good job of this
Just about every primary day, my mom and I have lamented that his campaign staff has done a great job of everything except lowering expectations. This time, he seems to be doing a good job of that, although I am still afraid that he will start taking the lead in more polls, which would up the ante for him. Having a governor and big city mayors gives at least a few point boost to Clinton in terms of the ground game (though Obama has always managed to build an impressive ground game from scratch), so I expect her to outperform polls by at least a few points, especially because I am worried about a Bradley effect in a state like PA. I expect Clinton to win PA by 10-12 points, and I will get nervous if a lot of polls show it closer than that. SurveyUSA currently has a 12 point spread and they have been the most reliable, so I hope other polls don't get a lot of attention from the media. I really hope Zogby does not poll the race at all, since they are usually wrong but their polls are commissioned by Reuters and tend to get a lot of media attention.

Find something real to beat up on Senator Obama about. This is tired, worn out and beat to death.

You got NOTHING.

8. He promotes segregation --- NOT UNITY!
Rev Wright is FULL of HATE and spreads THAT message! He promotes segregation --- NOT UNITY!

Viewing the anti-American and anti-white videos during sermons from Pastor Jeremiah Wright… Shocking.
Discovering that some actually try to defend this hateful speech… Embarrassing.
Learning that Senator Obama voluntarily subjected himself and his family to this pastor for 20 years… Disturbing.
Voters willingness to vote for a presidential candidate who has been influenced by this hate speech… Dwindling.

Supporters of Obama are shrinking in number with each video clip that is viewed. So, KEEP POSTING!

Oh, don't presume to know ANYTHING about me.

Of course there's nothing. A squeaky clean scrubbed and empty resume of cautious moves leaves no track record.

9. I don't see the good pastor
... as an, or the, issue. I have little affinity for the style, or the sometimes the cruel and unsavory obsessing but I do understand the anger and I do find a measure of coherence in (some of)his rants. I find even more when he is not ranting. The religiosity is very unappealing.

Without doubt the sound bites and one-liners are most unattractive and good people can take issue with his arguments and positions. But he is not the issue or the "problem".

13. I have heard anchors state if Clinton wins Pennsylvania that she will have the momentum
going into the other states. Now commentators are breaking down the states showing where each candidate can defeat McCain and Clinton's states are a bit different then Obama's states. On Morning Joe the guy with the goatee was breaking it down. It was interesting stuff.

16. I wouldn't put much stock in those anchors
Cuz they are the same ones who have turned a blind eye on her skyrocketing debts to small businesses/cities/schools around the country during the course of her campaign...as well as her Bosnian lies.

Saw a recent video of her explaining why she stopped to listened to the girl's poem. Said "I couldn't just rush by her..", with facial expressions as she said it like "WHAT was I to do?" Said something about not wanting to hurt the girl's feelings. Um, lady, do me a favor, if there is ever a threat of sniper fire and MY kid is standing to meet you, PLEASE insult her and rush by her...please. I'm sure the girl and her family could handle an "insult" better than the girl's DEATH.

Yet NO one in the media present when her comments were filmed challenged her with "so risking the girl's LIFE was the option you chose????"

19. If Hillary doesn't win with 60%
she won't have enough delegates to move ahead. Hillary hasn't won anything she set out to win. If the media had reported Texas fairly, everybody would know she didn't win OH & TX like she said she needed to either. Hillary is the one who has to win by a huge margin, and isn't going to be able to. Hillary is the one who needs to prepare to get out.
