How is it that Obama could lose the Texas primary and beat Clinton at the State Convention?
I know Obama won the Texas caucus, and Clinton barely won the Texas primary...but how does that make Obama stronger at today's state convention? Don't the campaigns choose the delegates to send? Or am I thinking about something else?

2. Obama won the delegates
Between the proportion he won in the primary, and winning more in the caucuses, and the weighting the Texas Democratic Party approved - Obama won. That's why he's had the state of Texas lit up on the map on his web site.

8. I don't understand the question
Of course Texas is important. For the first time in years, it's important in the Democratic nominating process.

A certain number of delegates were awarded in the primary; Clinton got 65 and Obama got 61.

The remaining 67 delegates are awarded on the basis of the caucuses.

The reason no one knew this before 2008 is that it usually didn't matter because the Democratic nomination was usually sewn up before Texas got to weigh in. This year, Colin County is having its caucus a day late (tomorrow) because there is only one venue in all of Colin County large enough to fit all the people and it was booked today. Four years ago, the county caucus was held in a high school classroom (IIRC).

10. It's easy...
a state is no longer important and/or counts if Obama wins it.

6. The primary and caucus are separate things
The caucus delegates were selected by people who went to the caucuses. The county caucuses will choose delegates to the state caucus. The delegate balance may shift at this point. There is a tiny probability it will shift towards Clinton and a large, but still small probability that it will shift toward Obama. It may shift again at the state, but that's even less likely.

It looks like there will be a 60/40 (advantage Obama) split in the national delegates awarded in the caucus.

15. It's easy...
Convicted Felon Robert Creamer can fix the Caucuses but not so much the primary election.

13. The second stage is another test of how deep the support is
primaries judge the width of the support

At the second stage 88,000 were chosen to go - some will not go obviously.

If the delegates have lost their desire - or were never that interested then they won't come. If one side is less arduous then they will consistently lose at each stage.

Also in some cases the delegates to the county convention change (this happened in Iowa) and that is even more significant.

And also if a candidate cannot maintain the 15% at any stage in a particular district they will lose any of the delegates in that county.
