Hillary's $9M in debt, yet wastes $ sending out "We're Going All the Way" solicitations to folks
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 02:44 PM by flpoljunkie
like me--who have never contributed a dime to her campaign, and have received at least a half dozen such requests in the mail.

Dear blank:

The political pundits counted us out. But you and I proved them wrong. Together we put everything on the line and defied the odds. We're going on, we're going strong, and we're going all the way.

You get the drift...

Mailing out letters is a very expensive and not very effective way to solicit donations, as I understand.

Hillary would have never won New Hampshire if the media had played even twenty seconds more of her "emotional moment." But they did not. So here it is, perhaps worth a re-watch, even if you have seen it:

Pay particular attention to 1:00-1:20 on the tape.

"Some of us are right and some of us are wrong. Some of us are ready and some of us are not. Some of us know what we will do on day one and some haven't really thought that through enough." - Hillary Clinton

1. "It's tough when the easiest food is pizza"...
but at least that proves she's ready on Day One when others haven't even thought about that.

9. Campaigns ought not to send out mailers to those who donate online. What a waste of money!
The Obama campaign has only sent me written thanks yous, as I recall--and very few of those--as they are a waste of our donations, as well.

10. They really are a waste. Like all junkmail, really.
I have only received things in the mail from Obama's campaign that I specifically requested, such as bumperstickers and such.

5. Obama has something like $30 million plus in the bank.
Go Hillary - Spend all that donor money. This way maybe Hillary supporters won't feel so "used" for the run in 2012.

Geez, and I thought you guys were voting for this election's Presidential race. My advice would be, is to start saving up for her future runs. I myself want to choose a President for this election.

If someone has questions as to this race. I advice you to take a look at the Clinton ads for McCain on McCain's website. The home page opens to Clinton selling McCain. But thanks for all your donations I'm sure the Clinton's would tell you.

8. The pundits counted her out?
When?

The media has been talking about her since her 3rd place Iowa finish.

Sorry Hillary... the pundits counted a lot of candidates out... but never your candidacy... even now... when it's so obviously pointless.

the shoe were on the other foot, and Obama was the one with $9 million in debt and only $3 million cash on hand!

14. That's strange. I've donated to her campaign and signed up at her website and last
week was the first time I received anything from her campaign in the mail.

16. Let me get this straight. You're mad at a politician for doing a fundraiser?
How's that argument go? "I can't believe this politician is trying to raise money... and while she's in debt to boot!"

I'm not sure what your criterion for "not very effective way to solicit donations" is. But mass mail outs is a long established form of soliciting campaign funds. Pols wouldn't do it if it didn't work. The CPU is just a few cents. As long as she gets 1% response rate with an average donation amount of $10, she's turning a profit and raising her profile with her target market.

In all likelihood, your name simply got on one of the lists she bought. Probably you've given money to someone once before, so you're going to be targeted well into the future by a wide variety of pols & causes you don't like or don't even know about. It may never stop if you live in a high income zip code.

The scatter shot marketing of mail outs is so wide, it might as well be on-air broadcasting. Being targeted is about as significant as having a TV and occasionally seeing that there's a show on you don't want to watch.

20. My point: Not an efficient or effective way to raise money when you have only $3M cash on hand.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 03:09 PM by flpoljunkie
Particularly to those who have not responded to your first five solicitations. They have become increasingly desperate in tone, as well--and not a little delusional.

21. Meanwhile..she still has not paid her grocery bill in Iowa...
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 06:57 PM by rainbow4321
I've posted parts of her FEC IOU list over the past few weeks (which at one point had Boys and Girls Club, YMCA (or YW, forget right now). Deaf Interpretor Services (now paid, finally..but to give them a frigging IOU in the **first place*** what a greedy bitch).
I had asked about the grocery stores below and was told here on DU that they were the places her people went to buy food **in Iowa** for some of her caucus goers.

And her owing Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield a total of $500,00 at one point (again, IOUs)..well that was a thread of it's own!!!

Ok, her current IOU list was generated March 20th and these stores ARE STILL owed money!!!!! But, by gosh, her consultants seem to be getting THEIR monthly fees paid!!
Can't wait for her next IOU list to be generated/posted!!!
