UPDATED: Obama up by 21 points in NC...with link to poll...
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 12:28 PM by elizm
I just heard someone in NC say on MSNBC that Obama will be up by 21 points in a new poll to be released today. Also, Rasmussen today has Hillary's lead down in PA to 10.

A LOT of veterans in PA will be turned off by Hillary's phony combat lies.

It DETRACTS from those of us who have served in ACTUAL combat.

I don't care what the latest polls said, North Carolina is Barack Obama territory. A sizable black population with alot of upscale whites.

63. That is correct. Also, the Clintons are widely disliked in North Carolina.
I believe that Obama has a very good chance of winning the NC primary. Whether or not he can win the general election here, I don't know. Obama has a much better chance of winning NC in the GE than Hillary, though.

76. Wow-GREAT news! Thanks! From your link:
"Raleigh, N.C. – After a week in which Barack Obama made several appearances in
North Carolina and confronted the controversy with his pastor by making a major speech
on race, he has expanded his lead in North Carolina to 21 points.
Obama leads Clinton 55-34 in the state. His gains were particularly strong in the
Triangle, the media market where his major speech on the war last week in Fayetteville
got the greatest amount of attention.

Obama also pulled within a 47-40 margin of Clinton with white voters after trailing
Clinton 56-30 last week,
an indication that his speech on race in Philadelphia last week
may have earned him some points."

Obama Leaps Ahead Of Clinton In North Carolina

March 25, 2008 12:41 PM

Barack Obama has taken A Great Leap Forward in North Carolina by opening up a 55 percent to 34 percent lead over Hillary Clinton, according to Public Policy Polling which conducted its survey on March 24. The margin of error is 3.8 percent. This is a startling rebound from PPP’s March 17 poll when Clinton had closed to within a point of Obama in the battle for this state’s 134 delegates. Dean Debnam of PPP attributed Obama’s surge to his recent visit to the state and “openly taking on some of the controversies swirling around his campaign.”

The poll found that if former candidate John Edwards decided to endorse Clinton that it would make no difference to 57 percent of voters. Thirty-one percent said it would make them less likely to vote for Clinton and only 12 percent said it would make them more likely to support her. Obama has leads in the 20 point range among both men and women.

Forty-seven percent named the economy and jobs as the top campaign issue followed by 26 percent who cited Iraq. White voters, who made up 59 percent of the sample, favored Clinton by 47 percent to 40 percent while black voters, comprising 34 percent of the sample, supported Obama by 80 percent to 14 percent.

They have been using Mississippi as the model by saying Obama can't win white voters.many states has proved that Is BS.Polls have often showed Obama Is more competive against Mccain here than she Is.Survey USA even before pastorgate had them In a dead heat. Now there Is no serious Obama supporter
who says Obama will win Pennyslvnia.Losing by only 10 points would be a victory especilly with all the coverage of socalled pastorgate.Hillary needs to win all remianing primarys by 64 percent to move ahead In dlegates and popular votes. It Is crazy to think Obama won't win any more primarys.

67. North Carolinians don't consider Edwards to be a North Carolinian.
Edwards was born and raised in South Carolina. In North Carolina, he's known for being an attorney who took on corporations who hurt people. The business interests in North Carolina made sure that Edwards is perceived badly here. The taunting is relentless. Further, he started running for president halfway through his first senate term - a lot of people took that badly. Then he built a giant house in the countryside while running for president on a poverty platform.

I liked John Edwards and I love Elizabeth Edwards. Unfortunately, the anti-Edwards pr in NC has effectively shut him down.

So far Obama is beating McCain on the bracket. lol

McCain had Connecticut going all the way to the final four. They lost in the second round.

78. Wow what is the deal with an Edwards endorsement?
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 12:50 PM by Perky
If John Edwards endorsed Hillary Clinton,
would it make you more likely or less likely to
vote for Clinton, or would it not make a
difference? If an Edwards endorsement would
make you more likely to vote for Hillary Clinton,
press 1. If it would make it less likely to vote for
her, press 2. If it wouldn’t make a difference in
your likelihood of voting for her, press 3.
More likely to vote for Clinton.......................... 12%
Less likely to vote for Clinton .......................... 31%
No difference .................................................. 57%

84. Maybe because people think that the only reason he'd endorse Hilary would be for a
position in HER potential cabinet? Afterall, he was constantly calling her the status quo, the one who takes most money from special interests, etc.

I think he is headed to the dustbin of history,

83. It's just as I thought. An Edwards endorsement is worthless.
It doesn't even sway people in his home state.

93. I've only seen their polls for NC...I don't think they're a nationwide outfit
Likely only in a handful of states...if not only NC.

92. I'd love to see a total blow out in NC
Particuarly since PA will likely be a loss, it'll, once again, wake America up to the fact that Clinton can only win in states that are already locked up.

94. If you go to Pollster.com you'll see that PPP is usually closer
If Obama is blowing her out...then that says 'The Speech' must've resonated strongly in this state. PPP were the same ones who said Obama was losing steam a week ago.
