Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 12:22 AM by FrenchieCat
And we really should be paying better attention to what is being offered to us.
Please Rec!

9. This article should be read by all "normal" DUers.......
Maybe I should have posted at GD? I'm thinking that is the case.

15. It definately deserves party perusal not just primary junkies.
You should cross post it.

3. Problem: the "most liberal" doctrine doesn't win elections
Good news for us in DU, not so reassuring for the GE.

5. Depends on how Obama frames it.....and going against McCain's rationale which is the NeoCon frame,
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 12:38 AM by FrenchieCat
We win.

Don't underestimate Barack Obama.....and don't underestimate the American People. If America vote for McCain over Obama, we will get what we deserve once again. I will bet that Americans are tired of spending billions elsewhere, and having nothing to show for it but coffins.

I think this doctrine is smart, and instead of the usual reactionnary Democratic worries as to what the Republicans will think, it is high time that we came out with our own view of foreign policy that isn't just a "lighter" version of the GOP. That's why we lose....and in 2006, when we won, is was precisely because we were promising something different from the GOP; an end to the Iraq War.

To be safe is to be sorry.

12. It's actually not "liberal". My Repub Senator, Hagel, has identical
views on foreign policy, and even worked with Obama on the Global Poverty Act and on nuclear-terror legislation, and he is very conservative. They both believe in engaging "rogue" states to find a common purpose on which to start a very basic diplomatic relationship, they both believe that the human condition drives and shapes world events, and that it's important for our security to address global situations like poverty and disease, and they both disagree with using the barrel of a gun to enforce democracy. That's not "liberal", it's just a different way than the neocon way.

14. Centrism as a function of corruption is NOT pragmatic at all
it's not even centrism

it's just appeasement to pro-war demagoguery and a betrayal of the people

This DLC talking point is what led us into Iraq

the time for change is now

4. This sounds so good and
when I read these kind of statements by Obama I know why there are such strong forces set out to bring him down.

6. I just think that it is about time that Democrats actually have something of their own
to offer. That is what Obama is offering; thinking out of the GOP Box. We should all be rejoicing this, and understanding that Lakeoff believes that Obama is one of the most oustanding framers that he's witnessed.

24. I answered this last night but my internet chose
to cut out so I couldn't reply:( Sorry!

I remember when we wanted our Dems to take advantage of what Lakeoff had to say about better Framing(the way we make our case) and here it is in Obama And his Team!

I'll be carrying around copies for undecided voters ~ I've tried to explain some of these things but it's complicated and takes time, better to hand them an article.

THANKS :)
