Hillary's DREAM and HOPES for who we are as AMERICANS , and why she is a hopeful person after all!
Edited on Mon Mar-24-08 02:29 AM by FrenchieCat
According to most Hillary Supporters, Hillary will not bow out of the contest because she could still win IF certain things happen.

HILLARY'S DREAM FOR AMERICA #1:
That The Rev. Wright issue doesn't go away, and continues to dog Barack Obama.

WHY THIS DREAM IS A NIGHTMARE -
a) The whole Wright situation is based on sound bytes, character assassination, distortion, simple ignorance, and the power of the media. Rev. Wright is not the man being portrayed in the video, and his words don't reflect any context. As such, his words have been twisted to fit a purpose. Even, Hillary's own pastor said so: http://www.foundryumc.org/pdfs/Statement%20concerning%20Rev.%20Jeremiah%20Wright.pdf
Therefore the entire caricature of Rev. Wright is a distorted lie. But what is problematic is that Hillary "hopes" that enough Democratic voters in America will be fooled into buying into this distortion of a man who sat next to her at the "I Repent from Monica" prayer meeting and dinner at the WH in 1998. Wright was invited, twice, not once by her own husband in Bill's "time of need". Wright is the same man who received 3 presidential Commendations and was in the operating room praying over LBJ when LBJ had a heart attack.

b) Rev. Wright is not Sen. Obama, but Hillary doesn't care about that detail, and she "hopes" that you don't either. In other words, she "hopes" that America will buy into "guilt by association" as a viable manner of judging Sen. Obama. Of course, she doesn't want that for herself with her many co-horts such as Peter F. Paul (trial date where she will be asked to testify 4/28/08), Aaron Tonken, Norman Hsu, Marc & Denise Rich, Sant S. Chatwal, International Profit Associates(IPA), Yah Lin "Charlie" Trie, John Huang, James Riady, Roger Tamraz, Jeffrey Epstein, John K.H. Lee, Pauline Kanchanalak, Ng Lap Seng, Abdul Rehman Jinnah, Frank Giustra and many others (see details here: http://thememlingindex.com/hillary_clinton_net_worth-wealth.html )
And Hillary "hopes" that we appreciate the double standard, because as long as we do, she will believe in us.

HILLARY'S DREAM FOR AMERICA #2:
That enough Democratic White Voters will not want to vote for Barack Obama because they will be frightened by Rev. Wright. In fact, she is crossing her finger and hoping, hoping, hoping that White voters are totally turned off by Wright, and by extension to Obama (cause all Black people are the same anyways). She also "hopes" that she can make that case to Superdelegates; that White America is not going to want to vote for a Black candidate, and therefore, he possibly couldn't win in a General Election. Yes, she wishes that for us.....continued mistrust of each other based on fear and racism.

WHY THIS DREAM IS A NIGHTMARE - Literally -
Watch this very short clip of Bill Moyers and his Guest, Thomas Cahill discussing America's worse nightmare - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IAY-sJ_H3M&eurl=http://truthabouttrinity.blogspot.com
That says it all for me.

HILLARY'S HOPES FOR AMERICA #3:
That NOT enough people saw Obama's speech called "A More Perfect Union". People buy into that notion laid out by Obama, that we are more similar than we are different, and she is toast.

WHY THIS HOPE IS CYNICAL AND DARK
This is a speech that begs that we bring out our better angels. A Speech that asks us to move forward to work on a better nation towards our better destiny. It is a speech of admission and reconciliation. A speech about unity and possible harmony.

------------------

So that's how I see this. Obama is a candidate that can inspire, reach out to us and ask us to be the best that we can be, and demand that we work at becoming a nation that is better than it has ever been.

On the other hand, Hillary requires from us only that we remain the same, believe the worse, and hang on to our large and small prejudices in order to see her through. She hopes that Brown people don't vote for Black People, and she hopes that White People don't vote for Black People. She hopes women vote for women, and that the Black vote simply won't count. She hopes that she can stomp on young people's dreams and that they will somehow still come out when she needs them. She hopes that she can get the superdelegates to believe that this is the way that it is, and that nothing that Obama and his 2 million American supporters could do during the GE would change this; because she really believes that her vision for Americans as to who we are and are destined to be is the one that she "hopes" will allow her to become our President.

So now you know that even Hillary's has got Dreams for us....and yes, she has real Hopes.

30. at one time i looked forward to a Clinton presidency..
how bad could another "middle-leaner-to-right" be?
and id get to rub her in the republican faces for years.

but then Obama provided a way to get a president who would actually do something for the causes of the left.
(instead of scoring a big fat zero like the clintons always have)

im still suprised that Hillary would work so hard to torpedo her own party.
and im ashamed i ever felt supportive of her.

5. Text of Letter from Hillary's own Minister defending Rev. Wright........

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright is an outstanding church leader
whom I have heard speak a number of times. He has served for
decades as a profound voice for justice and inclusion in our society.
He has been a vocal critic of the racism, sexism and homophobia
which still tarnish the American dream. To evaluate his dynamic
ministry on the basis of two or three sound bites does a grave
injustice to Dr. Wright, the members of his congregation, and the
African-American church which has been the spiritual refuge of a
people that has suffered from discrimination, disadvantage, and
violence. Dr. Wright, a member of an integrated denomination, has
been an agent of racial reconciliation while proclaiming perceptions
and truths uncomfortable for some white people to hear. Those of us
who are white Americans would do well to listen carefully to Dr.
Wright rather than to use a few of his quotes to polarize. This is a
critical time in America's history as we seek to repent of our racism.
No matter which candidates prevail, let us use this time to listen again
to one another and not to distort one another's truth.

Dean J. Snyder, Senior Minister
Foundry United Methodist Church
March 19, 2008

It's cynical and dark like you said.

We're just coming out of an 8 year nightmare. I want to see LIGHT not some dark corridor full of lies and deception. Obama is the first candidate who's ever excited me. I'm not going to let Hillary kill our dream.

Today we hit the 4000 mark in Iraq. 4000 dead US soldiers later and not only hasn't Hillary apologized but she's on board for a war with Iraq. No more!

What will happen to all the NeoCons, Dittoheads, Fundies, etc. if the US Gov't were to start making sense? We would be deafened by the sound of exploding heads when the realization hits them about what they missed out on for the last 8 years (or 28 if you go back to the elevation of St. Ronnie).

A person's character is so often a reflection of the life they've lived. With your bold personality and strong opinions I can't help but think you must have one heck of a story.:)

She is also cynical in the belief of "Well, who else are they going to vote for?". I think she might be right on that one, though. Would you rather have McCain, with his choice of a "100% chance of being a neocon Iran-hater" vice president, and his subsequent SCOTUS picks? I would much rather have Obama, but I would certainly not want McCain. What do you think, Frenchie?

56. The Clinton Racism --
It was obvious in South Carolina (and perhaps started sooner), and has just gotten worse as Hillary & Bill have moved from state to state. Hillary believes she can win the Ronald Reagan "swing voters" (low income, rural, sometimes racist) by using this method.

There are several problems with her strategy. First of all it's been nearly 25 years since Reagan ran for the presidency. Things have changed significantly. Many of those people have lost their jobs due to NAFTA (which her husband passed), some are very religious and will vote according to their beliefs on opposing abortion etc... so she isn't going to get their votes anyway, and some just are not going to fall for the race-baiting. Just because you are blue-collar and live in a rural area doesn't mean you are racist and illiterate. People are educated, use the internet to keep up with world affairs, and on a personal level their families may be very diverse - whether they live in the city or country.

This is why Hillary is losing - she has miscalculated how people feel in this country, and how they think (which is more than she gives them credit for). She is an arrogant elitist convinced that she needs to save the world, and has decided she will crush anything in her path. In her mind the end justifies the means. Her only hope is that come next January she is charge, no matter what it takes.

57. Her pronouncing judgment on Obama's pastor in her meeting to the editorial board
proves the point of my Op. She is disgusting.

59. Your article on Obama's speech
was one of the first things I read on DU. I was inspired by the tone of an Obama supporter who actually decided to act the way her candidate said we should. But the spirit didn't last long. One hopes that his concept of a more civil way of behaving would work, but it doesn't even seem to convince his followers. How can it possibly work against the neocons once he is in office? Very disappointing.

62. Hi Frenchie – Excellent post
Hi Frenchie-
Thank you for your post! Beautifully written. The Clintons' unfortunately are racists. I'm so dissappointed in them. I was fine with either during the debates, but edging toward Obama. I would have been happy with either of them at that point. Then Bill started his South Carolina strategy, marginalize Obama and hope the white people are afraid of him. So cynical. Then looking around I found back in Jan. She had given interviews and said "Obama had not done his spadework." Really "spadework", out of all the words in the english language that's the one she uses "spadework"! Then Madeline Albright uses the same term! What are the chances of her pulling that same word out of her ass. Zero. Concerted effort. Sad and cynical.

Then today's rant by Bill. And the relevation of Hillary and that creepy Bible "cell". I've enough Republican Theocrats in my life, I don't want one as President. I've to decide who to vote for in the event she comandeer's the nomination. Heartbreaking decision.
