I wonder if the Wright affair actually helps Obama in the long run
It's basically over now but it has managed to put the "Obama is a Muslim" lie to rest once and for all.

3. I actually got a new version of the Muslim e-mail from my MIL this week.
It said someone could go to Trinity without renouncing their Muslim faith. This was verified by four witnesses!!!!11!!!! :banghead:

13. like the GOP will stop a 527 because of an asserted legal issue - and media coverage of
lawsuit would be interesting.

6. It has also made moderate to liberal evangelical Christians to take another look at him
Not all evangelicals are frothing right wing lunatics. If we can take away even a few of those voters from the Republican side, it helps us out in the general election.

10. It helps him only in how well he handled it...
...and how for all their shrilling, the RW media was unable to make this stick. All they really did by harping on this so much now is to make it a non-issue in the GE, which I think really doesn't serve their interests.

11. Nah, it's hurt him
I've been out in the field registering voters and talking to Democratic voters all weekend and it has definitely hurt him. I remain hopeful that he can rebound, but he has bled some support that isn't likely to come back.

16. Further proof of the faith-based candidacy
It's a disaster. It might not be fatal to his campaign, but it's a disaster.

The sheer wishful-thinking, blissful fervor of some of the devout is astonishing.

No amount of reality penetrates the din of roaring praise.

17. Without it, we wouldn't have heard Tuesday's speech.
Yes, that speech is one for the history books.

Obama showed his true strength on Tuesday.
