This is why I love the Obama campaign
The Republicans are masters at taking umbrage at great soundbites, and the Obama campaign is just as good at it. That's how you "play" politics! Wait for someone to say something stupid, and spin it. This is the type of clever politics by which I think Obama can defeat the Swiftboaters. Obama's team is very smart.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/03/obama-aide-slam.html

Clinton said, "I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country, and people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

"Outrageous," McPeak said after an Obama rally in Salem, Ore. "I think it's horrible. ... I think Bill Clinton is, or ought to be, better than that."

McPeak likened the comment to McCarthyism.

"It sounds more like McCarthy," he said. "I was in college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it."

4. That's the name of the game
Gore lost. Kerry lost. You have to manipulate the electorate to win. I think that's obvious. (That said, also think Obama is a decent man, but it's his campaign that's devious enough to win.)

5. I would disagree.
But when Clinton does this, her supporters call it "good politics." So I'll agree with them.
