Poll question: Max Cleland for VP?
Putting aside who you currently favor for VP how would you feel about Max Cleland being on the ticket?

He is a southerner. He is experienced. He is a Vietnam Vet. He knows the horrors of war firsthand. He has strong ties to veterans including a stint as head of the Veterans Administration. He has a compelling personal story of having the courage to come back from incedible odds.

3. Max
I think it has merit.

He has already headed up the Veterans Administration, by the way.

He was spitting a little fire on Sunday on CBS talking heads show.

He did kick up some dust at the 9-11 Commission, before somehow he got, um, another assignment elsewhere, and left the Commission.

2. Voted undecided
Because other than the fact that the Repubs smeared him in the last election, I don't know a lot more about Max.........

4. YES...OH YES..OH YES
Max Cleland would be some sort of weird combo of John Edwards and Wesley Clark.

A charming southerner with a war resume.

CAN'T beat that.

5. NO
I like him but he wouldn't be a good choice. He couldnt even win his own re-election. I realize he was smeared but he and Kerry will face an even bigger smear war this year...if he couldn't hold up in 02 i doubt he can in 04. Why not Mary Landreiu (SP?). She had the entire GOP against her and still came out a winner.

6. I've never seen Landreiu speak
But I have seen Max speak, and I'd have to say that Max, if he was running in this year's primary, would have been the second-best speaker behind Edwards.

The guy can flat-out talk, and do it in an honest, straightforward and simple way.

It's a perfect balance for Kerry. Plus it keeps Kerry close to his Vietnam roots, which is where he derives his strength from.

Landreiu is nice, but I'd rather have her occupying that seat than risk losing another senate race.

Draft Max and lets go!

9. Here's the thing
There's been general and genuine outrage throughout the country regarding the fascist tactics that the Republicans used against him in 2002. I doubt they'd get away with it on such a large scale in 04.

8. YES
I still support the idea of a woman on the ticket but if not he is my first choice.

Take a war hero who the Repubs smeared and BBV'd out of office in 2002 and make him our 2nd in command. Let them try that crap on a national scale in the middle of a quagmire of a war and they won't know what hit them!
