They will point to his military career plus senate experience on various foreign relations and domestic committees and subcommittees plus dignitary trips meeting foreign leaders - the kinds of things any senator acquires after years of holding office.

I know you don't want to think about these things but many other voters will be - including many non-committed Dem voters, Independents, etc. Sometimes reality trumps vague "hopes" in the minds of voters.

. . while first lady. She was in two presidential campaigns against a rabid Republican party out to destroy her and her husband. She was involved formally and informally for eight years in policy decisions and the daily workings of the white house operations while under constant partisan attack at all levels. She attended dozens of dinners and diplomatic receptions where she met and had conversations with many of the world's leaders. This will give her the ability to hit the ground running much more so than someone who has had a couple of years experience as a senator and none in the white house. The perception of that will make her competitive with McCain who has no white house experience except as a guest occasionally. The reality will give her an administrative advantage.

Also, her age, just being alive and involved in difficult political goals and outcomes and working through problems at a high level for many years is just plain valuable experience. Older folks understand that because we can look back and realize how much less we understood about life and people and conflict and human nature - even in our forties. But I know, if you haven't been here - then all that just seems so irrelevant. We know what that's like because we were there - but younger folks have never been where we are looking back.

I was speaking with my late mother's best friend the other day. She is 87 years old. I told her that I was worried about McCain.

Her reply was this: What! Are you kidding! Another 100 years in Iraq ... yeah right!! Do you really think that ANYONE in their right mind would vote for this crap? I don't think so!

That tells me a lot coming from an 87 year old woman that at times I must hold my breath with when she says some things. She is a bit of a racist yes, but she too is 100% behind OBAMA! Yes WE can folks, Yes we can and we WILL defeat the GOP be it Obama or Hillary Clinton! :D
