Some New Yorkers Don't Appear To Be Too Happy...
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 12:29 AM by SunsetDreams
Dear Senator Clinton,

We the undersigned are New York state residents and enrolled voters. We are submitting this petition to respectfully urge that you bring your quest for the Presidency to a halt.

We are appealing to you not as partisan supporters of Senator Obama, but as constituents who are dismayed by the conduct of your campaign. We believe that the time has come for you to put the best interests of the nation above your personal ambitions.

We have watched as the quality of the dialogue in this campaign has steadily declined. Race and religion have been used to divide Americans from each other. Issues of substance are being ignored. Civil discourse has given way to cheap "gotcha" politics. We believe that the voters need and deserve a conversation on a higher and more dignified level.

Given the delegate tally and the popular vote count at the moment, it requires some very creative math to imagine a scenario where you could win the nomination outright. Thus, you are reduced to desperately hoping that the superdelegates might throw you the prize in spite of the clearly expressed intent of the voters. Should that happen, there will be chaos and disruption within your party, and your bid for the Presidency would not enjoy the requisite sense of legitimacy.

We ask that you make a swift and gracious exit from the race in order to preserve your ability to function effectively as our Senator.

Sincerely,

Your Constituents

Also in CA and Florida. From Rasmussen.

22. And, I'm sure it's more than 1% since she's gone kitchen sink throwing Sybil.
I bet there is plenty of buyers remorse re Hillary these days, and in a lot more states.

10. 57, she couldn't even make 60 in her home state
yet somehow some people think she will get well over 60 in the remaining states and make a comeback

Dear Hoof

How can you state that Hillary has been kicking Republican ass for 35 years?
The woman has only run for one office in her life, Senator of N.Y. State.
As the Junior Senator from the State of NY, she has kicked Republican ass
for about 6 years.

14. Well, that should do it.
It is well written and reasonable, but reality is what it is. There are 85 sigs so far, and a walk down any street in any city in NY could net you more supporting the opposite.

19. How old is it and how well publicized is it
If he put it up an hour ago the numbers would be small

If he is relying on word of mouth it'll take him quite a while.

As I said earlier: Anyone can start a petition. What weight it has and how representative it is, is another matter

28. What blatant dishonesty
First of all, to say the so-called pledged delegates should decide is not saying "one person, one vote." I expect that when all is said and done Hillary will win the popular vote and win the electoral college map. Obama isn't even bringing this up to lay the groundwork for a future fight--he's trying to sway votes in Pennsylvania by deceiving people into believing that something sinister is going on.

Second, the people who are writing this simply want their candidate to win. The self-righteousness is remarkable. If they don't get their way, then Hillary is a bad person. (Oh, and they expect her supporters votes in November--they are entitled).

Third, they place all the blame on Hillary for the quality of discourse. She has not made one personal attack on him while he and his staff call her a bad human being on a near-daily basis.

Fourth, they repeat the lie that Hillary used race to divide us, a despicable fallacy. I'm not sure when they decided to add in the lie about religion.

The Obama people have waged a relentless campaign of personal destruction against a magnificient woman, and her family, and their candidate, if nominated, will not have my vote in November.

Steve

actually the SD's agree that pledged delegates takes it. There was an article about that.

What did he say in PA? I've seen some speeches so just wondering if maybe I missed something.

The people writing that are Obama supporters, Hillary Supporters, and supporters of other candidates. Constituents means just that.

Not one personal attack? I guess that's perception.

Hillary used race or religion, again perception. It can't be a lie, its an opinion. On the latter, religion, I can't say as I agree or disagree.

What relentless campaign did Obama wage? I see it the other way around, again its perception.

Edited to say I will however vote for Hillary if Obama by chance loses. We need a Dem in the WH.
