Have any of you ever been asked to take an exit poll on election day?
I'm curious to know who, if any, these people are that allegedly take these exit polls that the MSM worships at the altar of.

Sometimes I really think that they literally just make up these numbers out of thin air. I have never actually met a flesh and blood person who has ever been approached by an exit pollster on election day at the polls and asked to fill out one of these surveys. Have any of you ever been asked to fill out an election day exit poll?

4. I took an exit poll after the New Hampshire primary this year.
As I recall, there were 2 or 3 people from different news organizations doing the polling and they grabbed every other person coming out the door. I could be mistaken about the people actually taking the poll, but for some reason I'm remembering logos of news organizations.

7. I was in early voting in Texas.
They didn't say who they were. It was close to push polling, so there were a lot of questions I didn't answer. I think they had me pegged for a republican.

They seemed disappointed.

12. Not me but my mother was -
- at the last election. Don't know who it was or what group, polling service, etc. they represented. I DO know that my mother lied to him! She told me her vote was private and she wasn't about to tell him exactly who she voted for as it wasn't his business. That's reason #1 not to take any stock in exit polls.

14. Your Mother
...not withstanding, most people are pretty honest (or liars largely cancel each other out). Exit Polls are almost always within a few percent of being dead on. It's one of the tools we use to tell if elections in other countries are being run fairly.

15. Yes, during the '04 election. I've also been polled over the phone serveral times......
over the past few years.

I think I ended up on someones mailing list, I've also participated in Arbitron and Nielsen research.

22. You and I must be very cool because I've been called and
polled over the phone too. The last time was a month or so ago for a Pew? poll, I think.

Lot's of questions about Iraq, the Democrats and the rethugs and the economy & *.

I've also participated in Arbitron ratings (last year) and was exit polled on '04 election.

18. I don't think the MSM is in love with "up/down" exit polls anymore.
Tom Brocaw said he'd never trust exit polls again after 2004. I think they will only do exit polls on secondary questions. At least those are the only polls they will publish before the polls close.

more, he actually offered me a short form to fill out anonymously.

He looked like a hippie too! :P Seemed like a very nice guy.

21. One doesn't fill out a survey. It is usually verbal.
The question are of the nature of; Are you a Dem or a Repuke?

I have been questioned and have taken it as an exit poll.

24. Nope, my experience almost invariably is
Walk into the school gymnasium by my home, encounter suspicious looks from the retirees at the check in table, wait while someone grumpy attempts to find my name (this usually takes at least two passes), fill out my ballot, put it in the bucket, and bail. I think I'm kinda bummed no one has ever tried to poll me.

Actual human beings standing a legal distance from the polling place performing an interview survey. It's not voodoo.
