The wheels have fallen off the Hopemobile
Even if he manages to eek out a victory this primary season, which is unlikely, because he will be seen as damaged goods and someone who will have no chance of winning the GE; he will be crushed in the GE maybe winning IL.

I am very disturbed by our democratic "leaders" who forced this charade down our throats without properly vetting the candidate.

The Democratic Party has just about guaranteed a republican victory in November.

Once again, screwed by our own.

I mean, the very truncated selections were taken from speeches over the span of six years - and all the press organizations are running the same clips.

98. Sean Hannity claims he went to Divinity School, and was pushing this a year ago
Someone said Wright has been on the list of 10 most influential African-American preachers; a self-styled divinity-school type would have jumped on that lead as soon as he saw Obama's attribution for the title of "Audacity of Hope".

IMO, every other media outlet and every non-Obama political faction is simply following Hannity's lead on his second-effort revival of an old story. And, IMO, McCain's people must be FURIOUS at Hannity for moving again on the wright story too early. Remember, Kerry was swift-boated in August, not in March.

But then again, didn't Wolfson indicate a couple of monthhs ago that they had something really explosive on Obama, but were holding back for the good of the Party? What could it have been if not the Wright story, gleaned from monitoring Hannity a year ago?

McCain and the repuke party are in about as weak a position as they can be in - moreso than when poppy Bush tried running again.

But the Clinton supporters will make sure that they support McCain and get out the vote for him in order to keep their chances alive in 2012.

13. It relied on the cult of personality from the beginning
Nothing wrong with charisma, but without a proper vetting or examination of the candidate, we are, as you said, screwed by our own.

From the start, Obama's campaign has been about himself--how "he" is different, how "he" can bring hope and change, how "he" can inspire the country. Now we learn that "he" has some major baggage, and that "he" may ruin our chances in the general election.

Sad.

Obama will be the nominee. Period. Game. Set. Match.

He will pick a VP that doesn't have Clinton as a last name. The ticket will be a winner.

Obama will beat McCain by 10-14% in the fall. The RNC already knows it.

If you don't want to support Obama, no worries. There are millions of people as well as many new voters in the Democratic Party that are very excited to get Obama in the White House.

revelation that many democrats would cast aside the fight for multiculturalism and ethnic understanding in order to scare up a few votes in Pennsylvania. The hopemobile has been slowed by Democrats that choose to use religious differences as weapon against their own. The hopemobile has been slowed by ignorant Democrats that think being black is something that candidates need to be "vetted" for.

Certainly hope can be attacked with fear and hate - it has always been so. Certainly hope can be slowed by small mindedness and ignorance - it has always been so.

Fear. This has become a campaign about fear for one side and hope for the other.

We have nothing to fear except that fear will consume a large enough portion of our party to hand the General Election to McCain.

This process has damaged both of them- in large part because of the dirty campaigning the Clintons so love.

Those silly Obamaniacs with their ideas about "majority rule". Didn't anyone tell them that we lost the War of "Independence" started by those thugs back in 1776? Who in their right mind could think that anything but a dynastic monarchy can separate man from the beasts.

Sad. Really sad.

We should ship those Obama freaks off to re-education camps.

44. Just because an associate has radical views doesn't mean they are shared.
Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 10:00 AM by galileo3000
I'm sorry, but I don't think this is a big deal unless we make it a big deal. Any strong polictical candidate is going to be surrounded by those with their own agenda. If I found out that Neo Nazi's were sending money to Obama, Hillary, or McCain, it does not mean that those candidates endorse any of their views. Obama has consistently offered a message that is 180 degrees from that of Reverend Wright. Why should we think that he feels otherwise. I have friends who are radicalized in both directions, but I am still their friend and I am proud that I can think for myself despite their views. Obama should campaign on his ability to rise above Wright's message, to see the good and the promise of america despite how easy it is to see our faults. Any fool can point out what is wrong, and bitch or complain. It takes a seriously wise person to see the good. As my mom used to say, love means "warts and all". Obama message has been one of bringing this fragmented nation together, and the fact that he is friends with those with whom he vehemently disagrees shows that it is not just lip service, but that he is facing the front lines of this struggle every Sunday.

If he shook the hands of a Klansman, it would be seen as an act of courage, not an endorsement. I say he should go back to the press and say that yes he knew about these statements and has had his faith in our nation successfully tested (more than most).

68. If you are not a racist then you are a coward that is willing
to cast off the fight for ethnic understanding and equality because you fear what the those that oppose us will do. You are willing to give up the fight and, in fact, turn against it. That isn't winning - that is crapping in your own pants or trying to scare other people into crapping in their pants in order to garner votes. There is a dose of realism for you - racist, coward or fear monger, take your pick.

That said... Hillary voted for the war and is more in tune with the Bush Administration policies, that in it self would make her less of a possible President.

Why isn't the media talking about the trial coming up in Oct. '08 for Peter Paul who says he gave the Clinton's $2 million that they didn't report?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=xq8aopATYyw

Why isn't the sale of HRC's campaign mailing list being questioned more to a huge Indian-American supporter named Gupta who had flown Hillary and Bill on private trips and given Bill a 3 million bonus for consulting and Gupta's investors filed a court case because of this?

http://richmonddemocrat.blogspot.com/2008/02/hillary-clinton-sold-her-donor-list.html

And why isn't Clinton releasing her earmarks and tax records?

http://weblogs.newsday.com/news/local/longisland/politics/blog/2008/03/clinton_earmark_requests_you_a.html

.......

Because of this and a lot more I cannot support HRC.

releasing her tax returns could be devestating. What is she hiding? Release them now. She's full of shit..."I'm trying to get that together, Tim?" LOL!

In addition, she touts all this foreign policy experience and her time in the WH as proof, well guess what--release your schedules and meetings--so we can see Hilda.

There should be transparency when people are running for office..and candidates shouldn't be running away from it--like Hill is doing!

Bill donor's list is important because we don't know what promises he's made if his wife makes it back to the big house. As a taxpayer and a citizen I have every right to know where the money came from...sorry you're for closed government, but I'm not!

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

143. Sadly, Obama's too full of his own Kool-Aid to drop out. (n/t)

145. Not really, this was pretty much inevitable
Any black candidate was going to be associated with less than admirable black figures and the media will presume them guilty by association until proven innocent because that is what the media does to black candidates.

You may be right that Obama will lose in November. If he does get the nomination we're going to find out if there are enough white people that actually fear figures like Wright and then fear Obama by association. Wright and many figures like him may be ignorant but they are hardly scary. If there is any black person that can convince white people of this, it is Barack Obama.

I should add that it's a good thing this is coming out in March and not October. Plenty of time for Obama to deal with it.

146. At least it has caused the Obamites to shut up a bit, vastly reducing the amount of slime at DU.

150. Thanks for spelling out Hillary's plan
"Even if he manages to eek out a victory this primary season, which is unlikely, because he will be seen as damaged goods and someone who will have no chance of winning the GE; he will be crushed in the GE maybe winning IL."
