Pope Condemns American Capitalism
Pope John Paul calls for a "Path to Solidarity". He condemns the "unbridled greed for wealth and power" and America's capitalist institutions of globalization that are "based on a purely economic conception of man" and considers "profit and the law of the market as its only parameters."

He wouldn't last a minute or even finish a sentence.

on edit - that's meant to say what a worthless manipulating hateful hypocrite Hannity is, and how phony and manipulated his "debates" are.

40. I would have used the "sarcasm" icon
except I forgot. .. and there's no "overstatement" icon, which would be much more apt for
my post.

There you have it. But at least I gave you an opportunity to accuse someone of being a "bigot",
so maybe that's an upside for you at least.

18. When was this written?
This is from the previous Pope.

But I did hear on the BBC the other day that the Vatican has come out with new mortal sins - including amassing great wealth. I haven't read a thing about that anywhere.

How about the globe's capitalist institution of globalization?

Naw, blame it all on the Yanks. Yeah, that works better.

I don't listen to living Popes, much less dead ones. In fact, I don't listen to anyone who believes in invisible
friends who live in the sky. lol

24. This was several years ago
I guess the reason you didn't know the Church has always opposed American style capitalism is because our media never reports it. Just like they didn't report when the Vatican condemned Saddam's execution, or Israel's attack on Lebanon, etc. It's okay for the white Catholic Church to criticize the US, but not a black pastor.

34. I've always known that capitalist-minded, work-ethic oriented protestants
have always had a dislike for the good-works oriented and protect-the-poor, socialist-minded Catholic philosophy. Now, I could take time and unravel that, but I think if you say it three times, it will begin to sink in.

What I don't understand, is why the Catholic Americans allowed the protestant-Republicans to sucker them in under the all encompassing umbrella of Christianity, when what they were really doing was selling Republican capitalist policies.

I kind of thought he was doing okay for himself. This is a post comparing the outrage against Wright's statements against the lack of outrage at similar statements by the Vatican.
