This week has been pretty damned amusing around here.
Started with Clinton being bashed for comments one of her associates made. Obama supporters blasted her as racist, the media hammered away at her, asking why she hadn't fired Ferraro already. Clinton distanced herself, expressed affection for Ferraro, and finally had to dump her. When she did dump Ferraro, it was too little too late. The Obamatons were orgiastic in their outraged glee, the Hillbots defensive against their ropes. Every post was on that subject.

Ended with Obama being bashed for comments one of his associates made. Clinton supporters blasted him as racist, but most of the media ignored it completely. Obama distanced himself, expressed affection for Wright, and finally had to dump him. When he did dump Wright, the media finally decided to report the story as an example of how well Obama handled the situation. Still, the Hillbots were orgiastic in their outraged glee, the Obamatons defensive against their own ropes. Every post was on that subject.

Same exact scenario, two completely different media responses. At least DU handled the problems the same way, although the roles were reversed for each.

Can't wait for next week! Although someone might ruin it and actually bring up an issue or something for the candidates to discuss. That would be boring. Then we can all unite in a collective yawn.

Anyone else reminded of the Randy Quaid Miller Lite commercials?

1. Ferraro was part of the Clinton campaign pushing a message the Clintons WANT in PA against Obama
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 08:24 PM by cryingshame
as Hillary and her flying monkeys go about their pandering to Archie Bunker types.

Wright is not part of the Obama campaign. And his message has nothing to do with Obama's politics.

So your equation of the two is utter nonsense.

2. What's not amusing is how both sides of the true believers insist on inflicting this crap on others
I've been angry at Obama and Clinton the last twelve months at different times. I'm so tired of their respective supporters downplaying/up-playing according to their whims. I'm sick of good people like Keith Olbermann being insulted. I'm tired of Bill Clinton being called "racist". I'm sick of all of it.

12. Jumping to undeserved conclusions annoys me more than both.
Read the damn post again and you'll see that I criticized the media's handling of the story, not Obama or Clinton. I am certainly supporting one over the other, and you can read other posts to see which if you want, but nothing in this post insults or praises or even really comments on either candidate. I was commenting on the media and on DU.

But as I said, read it how you want, read this how you want, believe what you want. Don't worry about what the post actually says.

11. Yes the unnecessary demise of the Democratic Party is a laugh riot.
It'll be especially amusing as John McCain takes the oath of office.

15. Unnecessary? Demise? I don't believe either.
The post was sarcastic, especially in the use of the word "amuse." I pointed that out to another poster, who seemed uninterested in what I actually said.

Hard campaigns are not unnecessary, nor do they signal any demise. We have the full attention of the voters right now. All they hear, all day long, is our debate over our issues. McCain wishes he could get in on that, but until the conventions, he's a lame duck. That's good for the party, good for us in November. If we lose in November, it won't be because of this silliness, it will be because of the failure of whichever candidate emerges from this race. Or so I believe. Clinton and Brown battled just as hard, and we did fine after that. Reagan vs Bush didn't destroy either, unfortunately, and that was even more divisive than this battle. For that matter, McCain vs Bush II wasn't any less harsh than this one, and Bush almost won the election in 2000.

23. Real debate, or DU debate?
On DU, the next debate will begin the next time a candidate or a supporters says something, anything.

Poor Pennsylvania. They must feel like Kansas in 1854.

25. Or they don't speak to each other or do shake hands.
At this point, anything will start a riot around here. I thought it was crazy when they both came to Austin.

You know, both of them are probably chatting on their cells right now, laughing at all this and giving each other tips. You can't buy publicity like this.
