Who would be eligible to vote in a MI, FL do over?
I have a friend who voted in the GOP primary in MI when he learned that the Dem primary results would be worthless as far as delegates are concerned.

I/He assume he won't be eligible to vote in a do-over. Is this really fair? He made a decision based on the rules at the time, and now those rules are going to be changed after the fact and he'll be left hanging.

If you allow him to vote, what is stopping EVERYBODY from voting again, even those who had no intention of voting in the Dem primary to begin with? So the MI GOP gets to decide who runs on both tickets. And is THIS really fair?

Don't know for sure, but I'll assume that the same problems might exist in FL.

I'd love to see both states get a fair vote and seat their delegates, but I wonder if that is possible.

1. I don't think you should have a vote that counts in both primaries
I know that you can't stop all the mischief, but I think in both cases, they need to post notice that if you've voted in the Republican primary, you're not eligible. It won't deter everyone, but presumably it will deter honest people.

Is your friend a Democrat? Then he had no business voting in another party's primary. If he's an Independent, then he made his choice which party to vote for.

I don't have a lot of use for people who crossover to mess up another party's results.

2. I agree with you . . . . one person one vote
if you cross-over, you cannot feel cheated if not allowed to vote.

5. Not exactly fair.
He is a Democrat, and wanted to vote in the Dem primary. Since Hillary was basically uncontested, and the results wouldn't mean anything anyways, he decided to cast a vote that WOULD count. He didn't vote in the GOP primary to mess things up, he voted so that he could have at least SOME say on who would run for pres.

I think you're right that he probably won't/shouldn't be allowed to vote in a Dem primary do-over, but I think he has good case to be pissed off.

3. This is why there will be no revote
With a mail in ballot there will be no way to check to see if the person is voting in the primary for a second time.

6. If its run by the state parties it would be Dems only

For instance, a vote-by-mail run by the State party, they would mail a ballot to every registered Dem.
