Kucinich Lesson: Activism
Maybe this is why most activists I know love DK.

Kucinich Lesson: Activism
Presidential candidate tells CHS students to pursue interests

by Jesse Sowa

Dennis Kucinich began his political activism during his high school years. He was involved in many extracurricular activities and went to community meetings to find out what was going on in his neighborhood.

He soon realized he wanted to be involved in national politics, but he didn't know how.

Now an Ohio congressman and a Democratic presidential candidate, Kucinich spoke to several hundred Corvallis High School students Thursday morning, urging them to be active and pursue their interests.

It was Kucinich's second stop in Corvallis, after a rally at a downtown business earlier this month. Later Thursday, Kucinich spoke at Oregon State University, and in Salem and Gladstone. Today he'll speak in Vancouver, Wash., and Portland.

"What you think about America and the world today is just as valid as what anybody else thinks," Kucinich said in front of a nearly full auditorium that included school staff and community members. "You're not just preparing for the future. You are the future."

..more..

1. There is a growing activist movement behind Dennis
...The man is quite impressive...to continue to have the faith & hope he does...day after day...I figure if HE can do it...so can I.

"You're not just preparing for the future. You are the future."

So true!!! Yup...the DK movement is growing with every heartbeat.

9. I'll try to post it to the 2004 forum....
I couldn't get all the info, try as I might, but I'll send what I have.

Will also PM it, for your feedback. Hmmm, guess I'll do that first... :)

Thanks! :hi:

4. Bless you, G_j.
I considered my vote for Dennis the best vote I'd ever cast. I still feel, so strongly, that my support, in time, work, words, and dollars, has added energy to his efforts to cleanse, heal, and nurture what is best in people and in the world.

10. blessings on you G_j...
sure wish I could vote for Dennis again.....

We had the Peace Walkers in town that day and they walked all over town to the polls( we have 3) and it was snowing like a bugger...back on Feb 3rd....but it was so awesome!

I was so proud to be the coordinator for DK here in my town. Still have my bumperstickers on the car & the yard signs on my studio door....have some left too...will hopefully send him a few more $$ before April is over.....

I feel each vote for Dennis is a prayer and you know how they add up :)

Blessings, G_j

11. we just got back
Stone_Spirits and I cast two votes for DK.
It was great to see a Kucinich table outside with a number of very nice people wearing Kucinich shirts. I so hope Dennis picks up some delegates here. NC is not very progressive, but we'll see.

Blessings, DR

13. DK had a table set up here also
and I got to cast my vote for him today too.
Felt great!
It was a caucus held like a Primary, simple ballot vote. The primary for NC will be in June (?) so this actually goes over like a primary.

Picked up a 'Kucinich Means Courage' sticker, stuck it on my rear window, hope it lasts til the GE.

Looking forward to results, I asked and the folks at the polls said 4pm at the earliest, more likely on the evening local news...which means they'll most likely not mention Dennis :grr:

And it was great seeing DK 2 weeks ago in Carrboro, hopefully that turned out the vote in the area.

peace,
dp
