Why the sympathy for Spitzer? He brought it upon himself
He basically confessed at the press conference. How can people feel sorry for this guy? Of course, there should be sympathy for his family but this guy knew what he was doing and as a former Attorney General, should be held to a much higher standard. Not only did he break state law but he broke federal law by going across state lines.

P.S. Any bets on how soon this becomes a plotline on LAW & ORDER?

I feel no sympathy for him nor did I for Vitter or Craig. If you are this
in the public eye and you have enemies up the wazoo, what kind of gall does it take to do this? He earned it. His family didn't.

12. I have no sympathy for him. What WAS he thinking? Idiot. Like a Greek tragedy....
here's this hero...battling white collar crime on his white horse, going after money laundering in big prostitution rings, bringing justice to all. Except, oops....somewhere along the way, he decides, "Hey, I want me some of them goodies, too. And I'm smart enuf to get away with it. After all, who knows better how not to get caught than a catcher?"

As so many others thought who got caught and now sit in jail.....if you break the law for long enough, you get caught.

13. I think the whole matter is disgusting
I feel sorry for his wife and his 3 daughters. What IS it with these "brilliant" politicians that self-destruct?? I just don't get it.

Eliot, you had it all, and you REALLY blew it. :spank: :spank:

14. Common, he only bought the 5-diamond whore...its not like he..
splurged for the 7-diamond whore. And he went with the hourly rate instead of the full "dawn to dawn" rate, so clearly he was only cheating for "part" of the day.

So in short, he's given us evidence of his money conscious nature without being spend-thrifty (if he was frugal, he'd a gone with the "Best Value" $1000 an hour, 3-Diamond whore), and was probably still thinking of his wonderful family at least "part" of the time. :)

difficult for him to find any friends

No Sympathy Here, he knew exactly what he was doing and the risks involved

16. Did You Ever See The Movie "Quiz Show?"
There is a moment when a Congressional Committee member ends the applause for Van Doren's "brave" confession by saying that he shouldn't be applauded for finally coming out with it. I love Spitzer, and I deeply oppose a witch hunt, but I can't exactly sympathize with someone who should have known better.

24. Hear, hear.
There should be no special prizes for just being honest and telling the truth. Especially when you've been deceiving people.

What kills me is that some people think that even to discuss Spitzer here is to be "jumping up and down" with delight over what happened. Uh, no. It's just to say, if Dems do something shady and get caught, it's no better than when Republicans do it.

was doing the same thing himself.

19. No sympathy
He's an adult.

He should try that "Love and honor" thing a little more -- especially since he vigorously prosecuted people who paid for sex with prostitutes.

Once you are married and especially, once you have children you have an obligation to them.

He broke his professional obligation as a prosecutor and his personal obligation as a husband and father.
F**K him

godawfull hypocrisy there..otherwise I consider it a private matter between him and his wife.

23. He was top cop in NY
He presided over LOTS of people going to jail for marijuana and other non-crimes--no matter what he did on the positive side. He should at least be held to the standard he held others to.

If he can't walk the law and order walk after talking the talk, he should be punished with the punishments he has advocated. It's perfectly simple.
