Meet a Democratic (Edwards) Delegate

Lebanon, New Hampshire - March 3, 2008

She may be an English and History teacher by trade, but Deb Nelson has another passion-- politics.

"I don't see how you can be a reader and thinker and not also be engaged by the political world in which we live," she says.

Nelson has been vocal about her support for John Edwards. The Lebanon High School teacher is an Edwards delegate. It is a position she ran for back in December. But, Edwards has since suspended his campaign. That means Nelson's vote-- along with 25 other Edwards delegates-- are up for grabs.

"The 26 delegates for Edwards will go to the convention and support either Obama or Clinton," Nelson explains.

Campaign staff for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are courting Nelson's support. She received calls from both camps after Edwards stopped campaigning.

"People within the state of New Hampshire, certainly not any candidate who wanted to talk to me about their perspective person," says Nelson.
