Amazing, Absolutely Amazing.
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 01:37 PM by Hissyspit
Hillary supporters have attacked Keith Olbermann, calling him a hack. Someone mocked Randi Rhodes, calling her a drunk who sits on her ass. They've disparaged John Aravosis, calling him a fool, despite his criticism of Obama over the McClusky fiasco. All people who have been amazing in their service in the fight against the insanity of the right-wing in this country...

And now they are attacking a 17-year-old, a young new voter, the one who appeared in the 3 a.m. ad as a little girl, calling her a golddigger.

Maybe some of these posts are from trolls or were meant to be sarcastic and they just went over my head - I hope so - but as someone who is not particularly fond of either candidate, I just read them with my jaw dropped open. No one is above criticism and critique - I've thought some of the attacks on Bill and Chelsea were uncalled for and Keith's approaches have sometimes overshot the runway, and yes there have been homophobic and sexist posts in defense of Obama - but this is getting bizarre. I come to this website and it's like right-wing talk radio.

Amazing, just amazing.

8. and your point is?
she "said" she regretted it.. she MEANT it..and I say Right ON!

She had to fall on her sword, so to speak, and he had to let her go.. she was NOT a paid staff member anyway.

David Shuster criticized the poor little 28 yr old child's parents for pushing her out front..when for decades she had been off limits (and I agreed with that when she was a kid)

she refuses any scrutiny from press, refuses most interviews and basically acts like a primadonna who can not be challenged, questioned or even approached, but she's free to use the "free press" to any advantage she can get..

I was glad to see that a lot of media outlets did not cover her all that much.. If she won't at least talk to the, I guess the kissed her off .. She wants to be Greta Garbo, so they say ok.

5. What's even more amazing, absolutely amazing, is the selective outrage.
The hope 'n change crowd have thrown under the bus such outstanding progressives as Wesley Clark, Paul Krugman, Joe Wilson, and others, simply because they have expressed doubts about Obama. At the same time they have treated the likes of Charles Krauthammer, Andrew Sullivan, and Peggy Noonan as the Voice of God.

All that's just fine, but now the situation has grown entirely intolerable because someone makes a smartass remark about a teenage girl?

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

15. This stuff on Krugman and Joe Wilson bothered me, too.
But I have to say I don't remember seeing anything as quite as outrageous as I've seen lately, and I have to say as well that I'm addressing mainly what I've seen in the past few days, so, yes, being selective in that sense.

7. And what does it tell us when more than a single person makes ageist remarks in a single topic?? ...
I take it as a camp that has many people in it that are sexist, ageist, and raciest people.

Ageism is just as socially unacceptable and morally wrong as other forms of discrimination.

I take it seriously because there are young people in this country suffering greatly from the effects of ageism. I will not even go into details about the abuse some of these younger folks take.

I have put several people on ignore from that topic.

12. This kind of stuff has become all too common around here lately.
I haven't read the post that you refer to about the 17 year old girl, but there have been some pretty disgusting ones on other subjects. I can only hope that these people are here just to sow dissension in our ranks and will be gone soon. There seems to be a lot of newbies (and I don't mean all newbies, we were all newbies at one time) here that do nothing but trash and smear and try to get a poo slinging match started.

26. We on this site are down to two candidates to choose from
Most here are just plain old Democrats. We like less corp. control over our govt. We believe in not allowing someone to die in the streets from lack of money to house or care for their medical needs. We don't like invading a country that is not a threat to us, like Iraq. We don't like paying excessive taxes any more than a repub, sheesh. That is a no brainer. But, we also realize that someone is going to pay for removing the sick and dead from the streets, sarcasm, meaning we are responsible for those that are incapable of caring for themselves.

We have basic laws set-out in the Constitution and by Congress. We should have a right to be protected from the super rich, like the corps have become. They now make our laws. Tort laws drives the repubs crazy, so a Dr., product, lawyer screws you, the repubs think it is your fault for being stupid. That is the repub. logic, buyer beware.

I once voted for the person. No more. My how the politicians lie to us. Maybe with the ability to check things out on the internet and hopefully get close to the truth, the public will be better able to decide on who to vote for.

At the moment, and I am totally drunk, gave up cigs for booze, I gotta go with Obama. He talks about the Democratic values that I have learned to Value. Yup, I voted for Reagan twice!!! Talk about being duped by pretty talk. Somehow I believe that Obama believes in the same Dem. values that I have come to totally respect. Don't give the corps an effin benefit of the doubt, they will eff you and are amazed that the public is so stupid to believe the BS the mass media pumps out about war, security, taxes, etc. BS.

Between the two candidates there is no doubt that I go with the candidate that when his honesty causes him votes, like the BS about the late night phone call??? Experience???......all of us on here (DU) lack political experience, etc., but we know what the problem is. Most of us were against the Iraq war from day one. Why wasn't Hillary more thoughtful and show more depth in the logic area??? At least Obama, who was running for Senate and had something to lose by declaring the Iraq War a mistake, clearly stated how he was against it. How can you not feel comfy with that kind of logic??

That is what I am looking for in a candidate, logical thinking. Not how to run a strategical campaign.
