Rasmussen: 42% Want McCain to Answer 3:00 a.m. Phone Call (Obama and Hillary both at 25% ea)
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 10:03 PM by Thepricebreaker
The commercial was credited as one factor enabling Clinton to turn her campaign around in Texas last week. But, 42% of all voters said the person they’d most want to answer the phone was John McCain. Among all voters, 25% picked Clinton and another 25% named Obama as the person they’d want in the White House when a foreign policy crisis call arrived.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/42_want_mccain_to_answer_3_00_a_m_phone_call

To Add:

Yes the democrats got a full 50% over John McCains 42% but you can't assume when its 1 on 1 the single democrat will get the other full 25%.

Example would be me... I would want Obama to pick up the phone, not Hillary. It stays that way if it was McCain vs Hillary. It would be a non vote for me, thus 1 vote lost. There are a ton of us out there like that.

50. I can't believe the irony of the Democratic party not counting
Florida votes.

And I cannot believe that the Democratic party chose that solution.
The GOP had the same issue and they only reduced the number of delegates instead of completely screwing over Florida

I may never vote "for" Hillary but the thought of McCain being anywhere near the football will ensure that I press the "D" button in November.

Olbermann had a great segment on McInsane tonight. I hope he keeps it up. Now if we can only get Hillary to stop talking about what a great CinC McInsane would make.

Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 09:53 PM by Skinner
The Dems got 50% while our opponent got 42%. Keep in mind that as long as we have two candidates in the race while they have one, the Dem vote is always going to split like this and make it appear that the other side is winning.

(To be clear: this is not a defense of Senator Clinton's "3am phone call" ad.)

51. Except you just nailed the EXACT problem with the 3AM ad.
Hillary positions herself as more like McCain - undermining that idea that "the difference between the two Dems is much smaller than the difference between either of them and McCain"...so that when Obama wins the nomination, some of her supporters will shift to McCain, because she's scared them that Obama can't handle the job.

Way to friggin go, Hillary. :banghead:

60. To be clear: I said in my post I was not defending the 3am ad.
It may have helped Senator Clinton in the short term, but in the long term it is a strategic blunder that will hurt the eventual Democratic nominee, whether it's her or Senator Obama.

52. more bad news from that poll - look what Obama advisor said
Among Democrats, 46% said they’d like Clinton to take that call while 36% named Obama.

Among Republicans, 79% named McCain while neither Democrat reached double digits.

Among unaffiliated voters, 39% said McCain would be their top choice to handle such a crisis. Twenty-seven percent (27%) of unaffiliateds said they thought Obama was the best to handle the call while 18% named Clinton.

Among men, 51% preferred McCain, 21% Obama, and 19% Clinton. Women were evenly divided—33% for McCain and 30% for each of the Democrats.

As for which of the three would be the worst to have in the White House when a foreign policy crisis broke out, 36% named Obama, 28% McCain, and 25% Clinton. Men were evenly divided as to whether Clinton or Obama would be the worst. Women were evenly divided as to whether Obama or McCain would be the worst.

An Obama foreign policy advisor said that neither Democrat was prepared to take that call (see video), a comment that John McCain was quite happy to endorse.
