30 years from now you can tell your Grandchildren how you fought to the bitter end

Grandchild: "Gramps today we saw the holographic replay of the campaign of 2008 and it was like being at President Obama's rallies. What did you do to help him?

You: "Well dear I fought him to the bitter end. It got real real nasty. If Hillary praised Sen. McCain then we got right behind her. When she raised fear as a tactic we supported her and tried to paint him as untested and too young. Even when it was pretty damned clear that he was going to win it we kept sticking it too him".

Grandchild: "Oh. . .(long pause). .didn't you know that he was going to sweep 42 states?".

You: "Well not really but that was really more our doing honey, not his".

Grandchild: "I am confused, how did your continuing to oppose President Obama help him win?

You: "Well he won a bunch of elections had a big lead and delegates and everything but we had to toughen him up make sure that he could take McCain on.'

Grandchild "I don't understand at all because we saw the huge number of volunteers and the mass demonstrations and we saw a replay of the debates where he just embarrassed McCain. Given what he did as President I would have loved to have been a part of the campaign."

You: "No, no you just don't understand - without us scratching and clawing, the credential fight about Florida, the insults and insuiations, without us pumping up McCain, with out creating uncertainty and fear President Obama would never never I say gone so high and done so well. We, we, we made him I tell you - history has been very unfair. Hillary Clinton diserves a lot of credit for going on and on and fighting all the way to the convention - even helping McCain look better - you kids just don't understand.

(Looking at the surprised look at your grandchild's face you calm down a little and recompose yourself)"Honey do you have any other questions?"

Grandchild "Umm no I guess, well just one, who was Hillary Clinton?"

Senator Obama never said he was inevitable, your 'girl' (Senator Clinton) thought she was, she had no idea he was gonna win so big. Did he shock her or what!! Keep up the silly little comments, it's pretty embarrassing!

What a pathetic load of B.S.!!!!!!!!

Hillary Clinton will always be in our history books as one of the most remarkable women who have lived in the White House. Keep insulting Hillary and her supporters, and we'll see if your guy ever becomes president...........

At this rate, it sure as hell won't be with our support!!!!!

the bookkeeping office.

Senator was not "my man". I supported Edwards to the max for the last several years. When we set up the One Corp I went - mostly for the antiwar rallies.

And when Senator Obama and Senator Clinton defeated "my man" I went on. I was a strong supporter of the Clintons before but I certainly did not want to have a rerun of all of the crap that went on before. So I investigated Obama read everything I could on him and was pleased at what I found.

You (plural) have a narcissistic involvement with your candidate. It transcends the question of appointing the new leader of our party. It speaks to your (plural) personal life experience and your interest in having Hillary Clinton's nomination validate all of the second class treatment you have had to deal with. I understand that. But the party is moving on. The math is in with proportional distribution of delegates in congressional districts its not possible to make up 140 delegate lead. Since Super Tuesday 80% of the Super Delegates have gone to Obama. Support the party's nominee fine. Don't support him fine. The expansion of the party is going to be in the millions.

It simply is no longer in our interest to take you seriously. I refuse to join with you to assist you in shredding your self respect in the silly notion that McCain is a better potential President. If you no longer maintain that level of respect for yourself, I do. So I will not engage in any meaningful threads in GDP that assist you in shredding your own stature. All that is left is using humor. The Clinton campaign has become a joke to the serious wing of the Democrat Party.

Before you render another bitter response I politely request that you read this first.

19. I would rather tell my grandchild
that I fought for what I thought was right. I fought for who I thought would make the best president. I chose not to abandon my principles and just jump on the winning bandwagon just so that I didn't have to go though the pain of losing.

23. Do you think that alleging that Senator McCain has better credentials
for leading the country is "(fighting) for what (you) thought was right?

Is running a campaign on fear tactics the campaign you want fought?

Here from a thread from one of Clinton's fiercest supporters today

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4956916
quote
I have enough with her using the national security issue to win the the nomination.

It's disgusting that she is using the tactic that Bush and Dick has been using for the past 8 years. I don't want to vote for someone who will continue to use the fear issue to win any office.

Saying that McCain is ready to be commander in chief is too much!

Edited: Thank you for all the kind responses, but I am not doing anything big, just being objective and honest about my views like every progressive person should be
unquote

If you want to suggest that you are continuing to fight to maintain your principles then I salute you. Just one question:

What principles is she currently projecting that warrants your fealty?

24. there is a difference between credentials and direction
McCain: outstanding credentials...wrong direction

I read her post already...there will be more and more people peeling away from Clinton...just like people walk out on the team they are rooting for when it looks like they are going to lose. Fickle fans. They will come up with all kinds of reasons.

I have no problem with what Hillary said. I don't think that her politics are too rough. I am starting to think that the democratic party is just a bunch of sissies....people need to grow up and learn to take a punch.

Why should she have to lie and die politically....why should her supporters have to?

If we wanted clean primaries then we should have a stand in line and wait your turn system...but as long as there is a free for all for the nomination then people should expect tough campaigning.

29. Even though I completely disagree with you, you have provided a completely
reasonable well articulated response.

However you have not responded to my question. You said (in response to my OP that it was helpful to fight to the bitter end) that you were standing to the end for your principles.

Its one thing to defend what Hillary said as not being as bad as everyone else seems to think (which we have agreed to disagree on) but you have not put forth an answer,

What higher principle that Hillary Clinton is standing for and projecting into the campaign that warrants your heroic steadfast adherence? What are the ethical principals that she so singularly represents that the rest of us cannot see?

31. I don't have any heroic adherence
I just happen to think that she would make a better president. Simple as that. I am not going to change my opinion just because others disagree.

Hillary's ethics are on par with any other politician's. Obama is no saint...he has just painted himself as the good guy.

32. But thats not what you said up thread
You used language that indicated that Clinton's campaign was nor merely a preference for a preferred candidate but one that went to the very basic bedrock of your metaphysical ethical structure when indeed you proclaimed in a heroic voice:

quote
I chose not to abandon my principles
unqoute

Please we are all interested what are those principles that you now embrace that we cannot see. Where exactly is that higher road?

25. Brilliant, grant...that's one
way to spin 'er for history. I'll be telling my grandkids that I and their dad worked hard to get Obama elected. I'm thinking I want to go to Pennsylvania(somewhere in PA) and hear him.. if logistically possible.

And my daughter's kids got me a Rolling Stone subcription that I got in the mail today with Obama on the front looking very Presidential.. which we haven't seen for a long time.

I'll be telling my great grandkids what a miraculous fight we had to change this country into something we can be proud of.. from the TOP Down.
