Clinton: Bought and Paid for By Saudi Arabia and China

by The Bagof Health and Politics
Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 10:39:46 AM PST

There's a reason she hasn't released her tax returns--Bill is on the payroll of the Saudis and the Chinese Communist Party.

Hillary Clinton still hasnt released her tax return. We dont know what shes hiding, but if her tax return was clear, wed have long since seen the return (which was filed in April of 2007). After 8 years of Dick Cheney raiding the public treasury for the benefit of his Halliburton stock, we must know the financial interests of potential future Presidents and the conflicts they pose. Since Clinton wont release her tax return, I will speculate as to what may or may not be contained therein.

Bill Clinton has been active on the international scene. We already know about the $131 million kickback Bill took from an Asian dictator. Still, Bill has been remarkably secretive about the funding for his presidential library. The full list of donors has never been released. But we know two things: the Clinton Library cost $165 million to build and fully 10% of that cost was covered by Saudi Arabia.

Since he left office, Bill Clinton has mainly earned a living as a speaker, writer and "consultant." Companies, governments, and organizations pay him huge fees to speak at a gathering or lend his name to the business. Bill has lent his name to shady businessmen, like Ron Burkle. Clintons speeches have earned him millions; a typical speech with the former President costs href="25,000. Foreign interests in Japan, Australia, and Europe have all been more than happy to throw money at the Clintons. This has led the man who was making $45,000 a year as Governor of Arkansas to spectacular wealth; the kind of wealth that can buy million dollar vacation homes. Worse, this is also the kind of wealth that can cause politicians to be indebted to foreign interests and undermine our national interests and security.

According to the Washington Post, a Saudi Arabian investment company with ties to the Saudi government and Royal Family has paid Bill Clinton at least $600,000 in lecturing fees. A quick search on Bills travel itinerary reveals that Bill Clinton met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh in June of 2003. Two years later, Clinton met with the Crown Prince again, this time in the United States. One wonders what Bill promised in exchange for the $600,000 check. Other foreign interests who have paid Clinton include: $650,000 from a pro-NAFTA Canadian investment firm and $200,000 from a real estate firm which is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.

This is all money which can be turned around by the Clintons to support their political interests. By law, Hillary Clinton is entitled to use half of her spouses wealth to back her presidential campaign. In this campaign, she has already done this by donating $5 million to her campaign. Lets think about the net effect of this; this allows Bills income to be used for political purposes. In effect the Saudis have given a $300,000 donation to her campaign, the Canadians have donated $325,000, and the Chinese Communist Party has donated $100,000.

With gas at $4 a gallon, I dont want anybody who is on the Saudi payroll near the Oval Office. Its clear that foreign governments and the Clintons have been colluding to buy off the American process and open the store to foreign interestslike the Saudis and the Chinese Communist Party. This is why Hillary Clinton must be defeated in the Democratic Primary. Our national security depends on it.

Hillary Clinton knows this. It is why she won't release her tax returns. Those returns will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that she and her husband are on the payroll of corrupt foreign entities--like the Chinese Communist Party and the Saudi Arabian government. Enough is enough; let's not elect the Democratic version of Dick Cheney to the Presidency and allow this country to be swindled into poverty.

Updates: Ourhispanicvoices wrote a diary yesterday which shows that the Clintons are also receiving large sums of cash from Dubai--the nation which tried to buy our ports!

MORE ON DUBAI PORTS WORLD BUYOUT OF AMERICAN PORTS:

Back in 2002, the Yucaipa Co. LLC hired the former president as a "senior adviser." He won't say how much that pays; Hillary's disclosure forms only put it at "more than $1,000" a year. A company lawyer recently disclosed that he gets a percentage of profits, if they're above 9 percent -and also says the firm's been averaging about a 40 percent.

And Yucaipa last year with the Dubai Investment Group to create a new U.S. company: DIGL Inc, with, which invests the private funds of the Crown Prince. So Bill and Yucaipa have a big stake in keeping a positive image for the Dubai royals and their many companies.

-----------------

Severing the tie to Dubai, a U.S. ally, will remove a potentially tricky problem for Mrs. Clinton. Questions raised about the activities of sovereign wealth funds -- giant pools of money controlled by foreign governments -- have become a campaign issue, as the funds have made a spate of multibillion-dollar investments in such corporate giants as Citigroup Inc. and Merrill Lynch & Co. In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mrs. Clinton said such purchases are "a source of concern," partly because the foreign funds "lack transparency" and could be used by foreign governments as "instruments of foreign policy."

...

In an October filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission concerning the Xinhua investment, Yucaipa disclosed that one member of its global fund's general partnership was Dubai Investment Group (YGP) Ltd., which is connected to a much larger group of entities owned by Sheik Mohammed that has investments around the world.

Since leaving the White House, Mr. Clinton has had various contacts with Dubai. For example, Sheik Mohammed last year pledged financial support to a Clinton charitable initiative, and the former president's foundation has a scholarship program at the American University in Dubai in cooperation with the emirate's ruler.

3. Don't forget the MINING DEAL AS WELL:
After Mining Deal, Financier Donated to Clinton

By JO BECKER and DON VAN NATTA Jr.
Published: January 31, 2008
Late on Sept. 6, 2005, a private plane carrying the Canadian mining financier Frank Giustra touched down in Almaty, a ruggedly picturesque city in southeast Kazakhstan. Several hundred miles to the west a fortune awaited: highly coveted deposits of uranium that could fuel nuclear reactors around the world. And Mr. Giustra was in hot pursuit of an exclusive deal to tap them.

Unlike more established competitors, Mr. Giustra was a newcomer to uranium mining in Kazakhstan, a former Soviet republic. But what his fledgling company lacked in experience, it made up for in connections. Accompanying Mr. Giustra on his luxuriously appointed MD-87 jet that day was a former president of the United States, Bill Clinton.

-snip

"Kazakhstans president, Nursultan A. Nazarbayev, whose 19-year stranglehold on the country has all but quashed political dissent."

"Mr. Nazarbayev walked away from the table with a propaganda coup, after Mr. Clinton expressed enthusiastic support for the Kazakh leaders bid to head an international organization that monitors elections and supports democracy."

-snip

Just months after the Kazakh pact was finalized, Mr. Clintons charitable foundation received its own windfall: a $31.3 million donation from Mr. Giustra that had remained a secret until he acknowledged it last month. The gift, combined with Mr. Giustras more recent and public pledge to give the William J. Clinton Foundation an additional $100 million, secured Mr. Giustra a place in Mr. Clintons inner circle, an exclusive club of wealthy entrepreneurs in which friendship with the former president has its privileges.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Clintons' shadiest donors.
Post Date Monday, February 04, 2008

t's not that we expect politicians to have squeaky-clean donor lists. You try running for office without, at one point or another, taking money from someone you probably shouldn't. Even Barack Obama, Mr. Clean, has Tony Rezko. But the Frank Giustra-Kazakhstan-Uranium affair, blown open by The New York Times last week, serves as a reminder that the relationship between the Clintons and money has not always been lily-white. Here, a guide to the unsavory characters who have been associated with Bill and Hillary Clinton.

26. From "The New Republic" and one of the reporters is from Pittsburgh...Melon-Scaife rears his ugly
head once again. If you read the whole article you notice caveat after caveat that investigations couldn't prove any wrong doing. It's another "guilt by association" smear put out by the same folks who go after every Democratic Candidate.

Have we seen "TNR" ever do a list of Bush/Cheney donors and their connections? Even the most notorious of them Ken Lay pales when you get into Bandar Bush and Defense Contractors...plus Chinese/Saudi's and the rest.

But, instead they go after low lifes like some Hollywood swindler who was Gabor's Dog Trainer and Norman Hsu who was another "Rezko" type.

More crap by the RW Spin Machine where it's all innuendo and you could find as bad or worse under most Dems beds and ALL REPUGS BEDS. They are all sleazy. But...this is just a hit smear job from Mellon-Scafe's shop once again.

I'm glad you posted it, though, because it's such a clear example of what goes on when a Democrat runs.

White House Had Ended System of Checking Foreign Guests

By TIM WEINER
Published: February 3, 1997

Ten years ago the Reagan White House adopted a rule about foreign businessmen, lobbyists and consultants who wanted to get in to see the President without the blessing of their embassies: they shouldn't.

But President Clinton's aides did not follow that rule. In their eagerness to raise campaign money, they invited friends of the President's fund-raisers -- including China's biggest arms merchant, favor-seeking Indonesian businessmen, a reputed Russian mobster and other dubiously credentialed dealmakers -- to meet with Mr. Clinton. Nor did the White House check the suitability of Americans invited by the Democratic National Committee to meet the President, allowing, among others, a twice-convicted felon to sip coffee with Mr. Clinton.

-snip

And that is why nobody on the White House political team saw fit to ask the National Security Council staff a year ago about a man named Wang Jun, who showed up on a guest list for a White House coffee with the President. The question of exactly how Mr. Wang got into the White House has a simple answer: ''Nobody ever asked anybody,'' a National Security Council official said.

So, at the behest of a tireless political fund-raiser from Arkansas, Charlie Yah Lin Trie, Mr. Clinton wound up sipping coffee with Mr. Wang, who runs the Chinese Government's weapons manufacturing and procuring agency, which is involved in secret arms deals around the world. These coffees for fund-raisers and donors began as a way to raise morale among party loyalists after the Democrats' disastrous showing in the 1994 election. By 1995, they became a way to reward big donors and prospect for new ones, according to Democratic fund-raisers.

How Chinese Won Rights to Launch Satellites for U.S.

(BY JEFF GERTH AND DAVID E. SANGER)
On Oct. 9, 1995, Secretary of State Warren Christopher ended a lengthy debate within the Clinton Administration by initialing a classified order that preserved the State Department's sharp limits on China's ability to launch American-made satellites aboard Chinese rockets.

Both American industry and state-owned Chinese companies had been lobbying for years to get the satellites off what is known as the `munitions list,' the inventory of America's most sensitive military and intelligence-gathering technology. But Mr. Christopher sided with the Defense Department, the intelligence agencies and some of his own advisers, who noted that commercial satellites held technological secrets that could jeopardize `significant military and intelligence interests.'

There was one more reason not to ease the controls, they wrote in a classified memorandum. Doing so would `raise suspicions that we are trying to evade China sanctions' imposed when the country was caught shipping weapons technology abroad--which is what happened in 1991 and 1993 for missile sales to Pakistan.

-snip

Other powerful Chinese state enterprises also had multibillion-dollar stakes in getting access to American satellites. Among them was the China International Trade and Investment Corporation, whose chairman, Wang Jun, gained unwanted attention in the United States last year when it was revealed that he attended one of Mr. Clinton's campaign coffee meetings in the White House. The day of Mr. Wang's visit, Mr. Clinton, in what Mr. Rubin said was a coincidence, signed waivers allowing the Chinese to launch four American satellites--though they were unrelated to the business interests of China International Trade.

...she wants to take off where George Bush left off--when it comes to
high neocon crimes and corporatist demeanors.

At this point, Republicans and Dems volley social issues back and forth--to keep the
base whipped up into a frenzy and voting for them. Behind the scenes, our government
has been hijacked by a bunch of sociopathic, money-grubbing, powermongering, neocon
assholes. The Clintons are in on it, so are the Bushies and the rest of the signatories
on the PNAC letters.

There is practically no America left anymore. Why more people have not figured this out (or
come out of denial about it), is beyond me.

39. It's funny
When the Clintons were in the Whitehouse, Republicans made these sleaze accusations every week for 8 years. I don't believe most of it then, or now.

Pretty soon we're going to see the same stuff levied at Obama. It's bullshit too. If we get all our material from Rush Limbaugh, I hope you all like President McCain.

50. Accusations?
Most of this and lots more is not accusation. It is fact. The "wheeling and dealing" with Ron Burkle is public record. What is it with people that they want to beatify the Clintons? Saint Bill and Saint Hillary. In the Church of Corruption maybe. Bill Clinton covered up everything for George HW Bush. Hillary Clinton will do the same. Especially now that she sees how well it pays to kiss the hand that feeds you.

I agree with her with regard to John McCain except I would prefer John McCain over her. He hasn't sold his soul to the devil the way she has.

Hopefully it will be a moot point when we all cast our vote for Barack Obama.

41. Jeeesh.
Old news, Bill was bought and paid for by the Saudis long ago...This is what the 'donations' buy the Saudis...per Greg Palast.

Following the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, Clinton hunted Osama with a passion - but a passion circumscribed by the desire to protect the sheikdom sitting atop our oil lifeline. In 1994, a Saudi diplomat defected to the United States with 14,000 pages of documents from the kingdom's sealed file cabinets. This mother lode of intelligence included evidence of plans for the assassination of Saudi opponents living in the West and, tantalizingly, details of the $7 billion the Saudis gave to Saddam Hussein for his nuclear program - the first attempt to build an Islamic Bomb. The Saudi government, according to the defector, Mohammed Al Khilewi, slipped Saddam the nuclear loot during the Reagan and Bush Sr years when our own government still thought Saddam too marvelous for words. The thought was that he would only use the bomb to vaporize Iranians.

Clinton granted the Saudi defector asylum, but barred the FBI from looking at the documents. Al Khilewi's New York lawyer, Michael Wildes, told me he was stunned. Wildes handles some of America's most security-sensitive asylum cases. "We said , 'Here, take the documents! Go get some bad guys with them! We'll even pay for the photocopying!'" But the agents who came to his office had been ordered not to accept evidence of Saudi criminal activity, even on U.S. soil.

In 1997, the Canadians caught and extradited to America one of the Khobar Towers attackers. In 1999, Vernon Jordan's law firm stepped in and - poof! - the killer was shipped back to Saudi Arabia before he could reveal all he knew about Al Qaeda (valuable) and the Saudis (embarrassing). I reviewed, but was not permitted to take notes on, the alleged terrorist's debriefing by the FBI. To my admittedly inexpert eyes, there was enough on Al Qaeda to make him a source on terrorists worth holding on to.

55. This sounds like Bush bullshit!
What really has happened over the years, is that the Clintons have
been folded into the neocon, elite fray. They are part of the
sickness now. Just look at their international dealings...they deal
with the same people that the Bushes do!

And we wonder why Hillary was silent while Bush tore our Constitution
to shreds, instilled torture as a policy, stripped Habeas Corpus, wiretapped
us illegally by circumventing the FISA courts, destroyed our right to privacy.

She voted with Bush on the Iraq war. The neocons asked Bill for war with Iraq
in 1998, and he turned them down. Hillary knew these same neocons were wanting
war with Iraq again, and she gave it to them--knowing this fix had been planned
and wanted even in 1998. Then, she votes again at Bush's pleasure--for Kyl/Lieberman.

How much glaring evidence do people need--before they realize that the Clintons are
part of the corporatist, neocon elite that is destroying this country?

Wake the hell up Democratic party!

I think that someone suggested that Obama and Co, start demanding stuff from Hillary knowing that it would remind her of Whitewater and that she would refuse on principle--the goal was to set her midwestern hackles up, so they could then turn around and claim she had something to hide to balance out his own corruption problem with the trial.

121. I agree. Get it all out. Every page of it.
I STRONGLY agree with complete disclosure. And I support Hillary. But no one gets to dictate disclosure timetables except for the Department of Treasury (which includes the FEC). And if Hillary said she'd disclose them by such-and-such a date, let her hew to it.

AFAIK, the Clinton Foundation is very forthcoming with its financial operations. I am surprised that nobody has asked them for the information they filed. It's supposed to be public.

Suppose it exonerates the Clintons? Will we be hearing any apologies and changes of heart?

And if they're guilty, draw up a bill of indictment and try them for tax evasion, fraud, and anything else they have done. I like the Clintons, but if they break the law, let justice follow. One set of standards for everyone. No exceptions. I may be a partisan, but I don't fuck around when it comes to that "laws, not men" stuff.

That's also probably Hillary's reason for waiting until around 4/15 to release their tax forms. If there is nothing incriminating (which I think is the case), it will place Hillary's detractors in a very bad light, focused by the usual tax season anxiety. And then Obama (and McCain) will have to suffer the same scrutiny -- all of it one week before Pennsylvania.

How can he sell out anything? He has nothing to sell. Your post includes an accusation that Bill sold out to Dubai. That makes no sense because Hillary opposed the Dubai ports deal. It was revealed that Bill gave Dubai advice on how to best present their side. Other than that, Bill played no role in the controversy.

This OP is why the Clintons are reluctant to release information. Everything they do gets twisted around by their enemies. No matter what is in the Clintons' tax information we can be certain that as soon as the copies are released Clinton haters will claim they've found some terrible secret the Clintons were trying to keep.

I don't think the Clintons should disclose anything.

79. Come on, guys. There's a million-dollar industry in making false accusations against the Clintons.
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 07:37 AM by Perry Logan
Actually, it's a multi-million dollar industry. If you believe any accusations against the Clintons, you're just not paying attention.

The pattern is clear. Clinton haters make up accusations against the Clintons...then turn around and believe the accusations they just made up. I don't know how they perform this little psychological trick--common amongst wingers--but they do. Hardly a day goes by at DU without some Clintophobe touting his latest bullshit accusation--each one dumber than the last.

THE CLINTOPHOBE DAILY SCHEDULE:
1. Get up.
2. Pee.
3. Make up false accusation against the Clintons.
4. Trot over to DU to spread the fresh smear. Decry the Evil. Put all debunkers on ignore.

Thus is a delusional belief system maintained. It's a lot like the Two Minutes' Hate in "1984." Except that--instead of going on for two minutes--it goes on forever.

Meanwhile, ordinary people go on liking the Clintons just fine, unaware of the incredible list of made-up crimes they've committed, and the Festering Wickedness that lies within...

Here's a contrast gainer for you: the Clinton Administration was the cleanest two-term administration since Teddy Roosevelt.

How's that for a mind-blower? As measured by the total number of convictions and forced resignations in his administration, Clinton's was the cleanest Presidential administration of the 20th century.

This is just another good reason to avoid the corporate news altogether. It's designed to weaken the left by turning us against our own leaders. Pretty sad that so many DUers have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

122. What's this with Jackson Stephans?
Jackson Stephans is a billionaire from Arkansas who is a Reagan Democrat and opposed Clinton in every Arkansas election save one. That exception was when Clinton ran against an opponent who defrauded the Stephans family out of millions of dollars.

I keep reading all these posts about Bill Clinton and Jackson Stephans. I have no idea what the alleged link is. I know Stephans is listed as a long time Clinton ally on DU Clinton haters posts but that is not the case.

97. Listen, Obama supporters
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 01:04 PM by ACanadianLiberal
You guys are as dirty as the RW at least. You folks now are quoting the dirty attacks on Clinton from WSJ. You believe you are doing something bringing people hope. Forget it.

May Clinton people now label you as loyal believers of Wall Street Journal?

Again, you folks are so over the top, I would like to pour some ice water on your hot heads:

If Obama gets the nomination, there is a high posibility that the RW will push the senate to investigte Obama's ethic conduct in his house purchasing in which the indicted slumlord Rezko was involved. I would like to recommend you keep your eyes watching the Rezko Watch site:

http://rezkowatch.blogspot.com /

Obama's connections with William Ayers, who found 9/11 justifiable, and Nadhmi Auchi of London.

106. I think many of us are more for supporting Obama supporters than
For Supporting Obama.

And I think that Obama may be able to be turned around.

But Clinton is beyond turning around - Read Robert Parry and his speculation on how she was promised the WH in 2008 in trade for her helping Bush keep it in 2004 - that is beyond dirty.

That is criminal.

Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 02:52 PM by ACanadianLiberal
Bottomline this is America. If they are criminal, go ahead to prosecute them. Are any legal cases going on somewhere?

Do you have any idea about how many crimal charges against Clinton during his WH tenure?

You self-righteous people here want to do RW dirty on them one more time, hmm? In name of supporting Obama supporters than supporting Obama. Your motive are so obvious. You want to do the mudslinger thing here.

I doubt you are even an Obama worshiper.

118. Hey, is there any regulation restricting former presidents from
giving speeches and collecting fees from their speeches? If there is, Clinton is a crimal, go ahead to prosecute him for that.

Is there any law restricting politicians from collecting political donations from coporations? If there is, go ahead to prosecute them.

Has Obama collected anything from similar pool of coperations? Yes, how can you make your charge against Clinton seriously other than a mudslinger effort?

You are just a piece of joke, plus haven't brushed your teeth for months long.
