Let Michigan's ELECTED officials pay for new primary, not State or Voters
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 02:50 PM by fadedrose
The elected officials of my state should have known better than to have an election that was not going to count - they were forewarned by Howard Dean who was only following rules.

It's up to Gov. Granholm, the Levins, Stabinow, Dingles, and all the other DLC brainiacs whose idea this was. to come up with the cash for a new primary. Our state has been shamelessly left out of this election and they are responsible. My God, they are PROFESSIONALS and should have known better. Shame on them.

And the people who did the ballot must have had to realize that it had the value of toilet paper without ALL of the candidates' names on it. Something seems highly unethical in the way they let the election go through so poorly and they thought we wouldn't notice.

The ballot itself was pathetic. A legal-sized sheet of paper cut into 2 or 3 smaller sizes with only the names of Clinton, Kucinich and Gravel - and oh yeah, "uncommitted." Many people didn't bother to vote.

I don't care how popular Clinton is - she still has to follow rules and her supporters pulled a fast one hoping/knowing they'd get away with it.

1. What would be the cost of a primary vs. a caucus? nt

2. She didn't pull a fast one. Kuch, Gravel didn't remove their
names either. They were just smarter than BO. Comes from 'experience'.

3. This was a "primary"
You don't get it. A primary means that we were to make a choice as to who we wanted to nominate for the candidacy. Therefore, it follows that ALL OF THE CANDIDATES' NAMES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE BALLOT. The missing candidates were told the election was "illegal" and withdrew their names. The fact that it was "illegal" apparently meant nothing to Clinton OR HER SUPPORTERS who must have figured that would be even better for them and they'd get all the votes. What other rationale fits?

The ballot in question SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PERMITTED BY THE ELECTED OFFICIALS NOTWITHSTANDING THAT HILLARY WAS EITHER THE SMARTEST ONE OR THE STUPIDEST ONE. They should have been looking out for US, for ME, for everyone else who candidate was not on the ballot regardless of who withdrew their names. This was early and we should have had the same choices that NH or Iowa had, which was the reason we were having an early vote - so that the choice would not be made before we got our chance to choose.

The election was a dud, and the ballot was a bigger dud.

In plain words, my elected officials didn't give a damn about me and I feel the same about them. If it were the other way around, and HC's name was left off, I would feel the same way, that it wasn't fair to say who won without ALL of the names on the ballot whether the primary was legal or illegal.
