Putting another Obamaton lie to rest: "Hillary only won because Rush directed R's to vote for her"
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 08:59 AM by Lirwin2
FACT: Clinton won 67% of the Democratic vote.
FACT: 52% of Republicans voting in the primary voted for Obama, compared to 47% for Clinton.
FACT: Republicans, like sharks, sensed the blood of their prey, and therefore voted for the weaker candidate.

1. You really believe that the 47% of the Republicans who voted for
Clinton will vote for her in November?

11. I think more Republicans that voted for Obama will do so in the GE because they are crossovers
While most Republicans voting for Hillary did so to help their party have a weaker opponent.

Hillary supporters are crazy if they think Republicans will in any way support her outside of messing with our primaries. On the other hand Obama has done a good job of swinging moderate Republicans and Independents to his camp for the long haul.

2. THey split the puke vote down the middle in Ohio.
Not significant in either state, other than adding to the Dems numbers.

5. That's not an "Obamaton lie," that is what Rush Limbaugh told the Republicans to do.
The Republicans were dancing in the streets last night. If you look out the window, you may seem them still there dancing in the streets today.

They want to face her in the general election. This isn't Obama saying this, the REPUBLICANS ARE SAYING AND DOING EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO HAVE HER BE THE NOMINEE.

6. Wait, so Rush told Republicans to tell everyone that Clinton only won because Rush directed the R's?
Well, that certainly would explain why so many Obamatons are spreading this lie. Their hero Rush told them to.

10. It isn't the "Obamatons'" lie -- it is what Rush was saying. Why don't McClainton supporters see?
Why is it that every time you tell a McClainton supporter anything, they respond to you with some smear against Obama?

I could tell you the sky is blue, and you would respond, "Obama said it wasn't blue one time, and Muslims think it is blue, and he lied about it now because it is blue, especially since I saw NAFTA printed in blue letters."

12. Obama supporters are claiming that had Rush NOT directed his listeners
Clinton wouldn't have won. That isn't true, as I have demonstrated in this post.

20. Proving that you are more focused on attacking Obama supporters than Rush Limbaugh.
Which is why we lose.

9. I hope you're right. Whoever wins should be chosen by democrats.
Then again, I know of a few republicans who switched to vote for Barack Obama because they like him and want to vote for him in the GE. I think that's great. It makes sense that there would be at least some Repubs ready to bail out of that party once and for all. Still, they can vote for a dem in the GE. As far as selecting the candidate, I think it should be strictly closed. Period.

You're post makes me feel better about this outcome.
Congrats to you on Hillary's win!

16. FACT: Clinton DID NOT WIN 67% of the Democratic vote
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epol... (Go to page 4)

FACT: 67% of those voting in the Democratic primary in Texas were Democratic
FACT: 54% of Democrats voting in the primary voted for Clinton, compared to 45% for Obama

Therefore, the Democrats who voted for Clinton cast 36% of all votes in the Democratic primary

17. It doesn't matter whether Rush's call for repugs to vote HRC worked in Texas.
Hillary gained 1 delegate over Obama in Texas.

Texas Primary: Clinton 64/ Obama 60
Texas Caucus: Obama 35/ Clinton 32

Hillary gained 15 delegates over Obama in Ohio

Ohio Primary Clinton 77/ Obama 62/ Edwards 2

The Vermont and RI Primaries canceled one another out.

Vermont Primary: Obama 9/ Clinton 6

Rhode Island Primary: Clinton 12/Obama 9

Of course, the real problem is the reporting, which is rallying HRC's base for no purpose.

Let's say that she does go on to win in all the states you just mentioned: an assertion with no basis that I can see.

The net gain she would need per race is 10 delegates each, and those states simply don't have that many delegates to yeild
in this closely fought election.

Clinton won, but it's a Pyrric victory. Now it's time for peace talks so that both sides of this debate don't get slaughtered
in the general election.

19. He's won a lot more Republicans in previous contests
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 09:24 AM by democrattotheend
Which indicates that Rush's call did have some effect. This is particularly true in light of the fact that a lot more Republicans voted in our primaries yesterday than in previous contests.

Your third point is particularly off. I believe strategic voting tends to be a pretty small percentage, but to the extent that Republicans voted strategically, most would have voted for Clinton, since it is in their interest to keep our primary going as long as possible.
