Clark's legacy: Kosovo among most optimistic in poll
I was listening to the BBC News Hour this AM and they did a piece on the Gallup International Poll that has been done for years of individuals around the world and how optimistic they feel.

Well, among the top countries--Kosovo--and it's been that way since 1999. Why? According to the poll, it's because they were saved by the UN operations there and they continue to be grateful.

Bill Clinton took a lot of heat for involving the US there....so hats off to him.

But a lot of the success was due to our own Wesley Clark, who is beloved by the Kosovo people to this day.

And it is a shame that some people here have tried to link Kosovo with whats going on in Iraq.

The U.N backed Kosovo, they did not back Iraq. Just one example of the differences.

But I guess to some here, any lie is a good lie if it might help get your candidate the nomination.

edit spelling.

But Michael Parenti says...

But Clark is a war criminal...

But this story is only DLC propoganda...

But counterpunch/indymedia/___________ (farleft conspiratorial site) says those in Kosovo don't REALLY appreciate it.

Hey! No one polled me! Oh, wait, I'm not in Kosovo...

More?

14. True but?
Since #12 may just be an extention of a diatribe on how leadership has nothing to do with a democratic government (from another thread) can this be counted as a unique post?

I'm not really feeling very snarky today, so may I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

6. Imagine That: Asking The People of Kosovo How They Feel

The people of Kosovo are expressing sustained optimism. Like the testimonials and photos showing gratitude to Clark, this poll is far more reliable than a zillion pundit articles written and posted by people with an agenda to unfairly smear Clark and Clinton.

Thanks.

8. The reporter definitely cited the UN and may also
have said Nato, but I had just woken up so I can't say I'm 100% certain about the Nato mention.

When I get to my computer, maybe I'll go to the BBC site or to Gallup and see if the poll is up....

I know that Japan is gloomy, Hong Kong is happy now that SARS is pretty much over, and the Hungarians...well, they seem to be always down in the dumps!

10. Thanks!! I'm on dorky WebTV now and the
Gallup Intl site doesn't work fully.
However, if you search BBC News Hour,
you can listen to the show....
Also, down at the end of the program highlights you can see the squib about who's happy in the New Year...that would be the report, I would guess.

12. its a shame the KLA terroists
can't vote in Democratic primaries, or Clark would have more than single digits nationally.

18. The people of Kosovo love Clark.
Many of them go to his funraisers. There was a group of 20 maybe? at the Chicago fundraiser I went to. They truly, truly love the man. You should have seen the smiles on their faces when he entered the room and gave his speech. Nothing but admiration.
