Obama to Press: "I didn't expect that you guys would bite on that"

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/03/04/politics/fromtheroad/entry3906127.shtml

HOUSTON -- Barack Obama described Hillary Clinton today as a “tenacious” candidate but blamed her for running a negative campaign. He said Clinton has employed a “kitchen sink” strategy in attacking him, and that negative ads running against him may have caused a sense of “turbulence” in the minds of voters.

“I am a little surprised that all the complaining about the refs has worked as it has for them. This whole spin of just how the press has been tough on them and not tough on us. I didn't expect that you guys would bite on that,” Obama said.

1. Obama's right
Hillary's campaign has used Bush like tactics to intimidate the press into doing their bidding.

7. Obama Finally Nailed in his NAFTA Lie
The Canadian Government finally admitted that an Obama adviser
called them to tell them not to worry about all the BS he was
telling to the workers about NAFTA in Ohio.
I'm surprised this hasn't broken in DU.

4. The 'complaining about the refs' analogy is perfect.
After a while, you start getting the calls in your favor, even if the refs were basically evenhanded to start with. That's exactly what's happening now. Will SNL go 3 straight weeks with the same 'Obama gets the favored treatment' skit or will they maybe turn the tables now? How many times has MSNBC shown Hillary on SNL this week... a lot.

8. If Obama gets the nomination
will he continue to blame Hillary Clinton when the media ask him tough questions? It makes him look weak and incapable of defending himself, IMO.

14. 5 minutes ago I was JUST THINKING how the tenor of coverage
is so decidedly pro-Hillary in the last week. As though the media editors and ownership want to PROVE they don't have a hard on for Barack by going completely in the opposite direction.

More likely, it was there perfect opportunity to set Barack up for a fall....give people a moment of hope and then crush it with a demoralizing rigged win for Hillary based on creepy legalistic bullshit around Michigan votes.....and then another slap to the face loss to a crazy ass Republican.

THe established media....pretty twisted fucks. Just remember GE makes more money when there's a war on. And GE owns NBC.

22. Yeah, I've warned Obama's fans not to bask in positive media coverage...
It was easy to predict that they'd turn on him, as they'll also rake whoever the Dem nominee is over the coals. They always do. If there's no scandal, they'll manufacture something silly (Gore's earthtones, Kerry's windsurfing and the wrong kind of cheese on a sandwich).

Here's the funny thing that happens to former media darlings. The media turns nasty to the former loved one who then gets snappy with the media, media gets angry, snappishness turns ugly, etc. etc.

Yeah, I said it. He evades, he cuts them off, he acts "surprised" that they would ask him hard questions, and then admonishes them when they do.

Smart of Obama to call them on it and make them look foolish for it. Its why the Rezko thing is getting written about far more than it deserves to be.

39. I Agree with Obama
Once again, he's just being honest. He's never run in a major national campaign before, and he's surprised by the ruthlessness and the ruthlessness of the Clinton campaign. Obama's tough, though. He won't let the Hellcat get him down.

... and stop it; though, he would endanger his above-the-fray image were he to go as negative as Zellary.
