You know what makes this whole thing so fascinating to watch?
It's happening in slow motion. And by "it", I mean the slow unraveling of the Hillary Clinton campaign. She was the inevitable one. It was hers for the taking. Everyone knew it. It was just a matter of who she would face in the GE.

Then, the wheels started coming off. Not at once, but one by one. At least in a general election, when you lose, it happens all at once and you're done. Here we're watching the slow drip of losses that just won't stop. Its MUCH more humiliating to lose this slowly, especially when you trained your whole life for this, you were a lock in every pundits eyes only 3 months ago, had EVERY advantage from money to contacts to name recognition, and you're losing to someone who came out of nowhere.

I'm no great fan of HRC, but this is almost excruciating to watch. As a student of political theater, it will be fascinating to see what happens after Tuesday. Clearly, she's heading for more big losses. Does she finally accept reality and accept the inevitable, or does she continue the political version of the Bataan death march?

2. She's left with two options in the end... Grace or complete Humilation.
Only she can be the one to decide how the public will view her in the end. Me, I'd go for grace, and hope for a return to center stage in 2016.

3. The media is trying to pick our candidate
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 12:10 PM by billbuckhead
It's obvious to all who dare to look. The whoring NPR does for Obama is worthy of some sort of Leni Riefenstahl award for brilliant propaganda.

4. Really Billi? I disagree with you.
I picked Obama when he was little known, and likely the least possible to exceed. He's always been my first choice, as for many others. So your belief is falling on deaf ears.

As for Clinton - All I see is someone who has (or allowed others to) run a wreckless campaign. Filled with mass assumptions, and flawed from the start. She really needs to take a close look at the idiots she's surrounded herself with. Where I believe they were instrumental in destroying her - she was the one too blind to see it happening. And in the end, it goes back to her judgement. If her campaign is any glimpse into the future, if she were elected... So too would her presidency be a massive failure.

11. If Oprah, the cable news and NPR would have backed Hillary this would be over
Did you see the Saturday night live skit about the Texas debate? The media's over obvious propagandalike promotion of Obama is now a national joke. Once this smiling empty suit is our nominee, the joke will be on us. The media knocked out the 2 more electable candidates and we are left with weakest general election candidate. It's what's called a "managed democracy" It's the way Republicans and DINO's keep winning.

15. Sorry, I don't watch Oprah or listen to NPR.
Please don't point out SNL. An analysis was done and found that they were only separated by 4 questions of who went before the other. And sorry to say, many of the other candidates were either too focused on a narrow selection of issues, or would never have had a chance against republicans in the general.

And Clinton is a DINO by her actions. Just sayin'

6. the political version of the Bataan death march?
I like a good History Channel metaphor, but... what about Captain Robert Scott, or the Donner Party?

7. Plus she had a lock on the party elite. They had strong-armed officials to back her.
I can tell you that in New York State officials and operatives do not dare cross the Clintons. If you do you'll get a visit.

8. Excellent point
And all part of the theater. As the losses mount, the power ebbs. Will the visits continue? And .... will anyone care if they do? Power is a fascinating thing, and the Clintons have enjoyed huge power of the past 16 years. Its going to be very interesting to watch as that power vaporizes into thin air in the matter of a few weeks.

9. As I recall, it was the media and not HRC who proclaimed her to
be the inevitable one. This alone started giving many people, Democrats included, the feeling that they were being forced into accepting her as the nominee. After the other candidates started entering the race the media decided who got favorable or unfavorable coverage or, as in the case of Edwards and others, little or no coverage at all. They chose to spotlight Clinton and Obama because of the historic implications of such a race. What could be better for their ratings than to cover the excitement of a white woman and a black man vying for the same nomination?

I'm surprised and disappointed at the number of people on this board who do not remember what the media has done in the last few elections to Democratic candidates and seem to not realize that the media has a tremendous amount of influence on how our candidates are selected. I know this has been discussed here before, but many are so starstruck that they can't or won't admit that the media has chosen our candidates once again.

she stated on george stephanopoulos' show in january that she would have this wrapped up by super tuesday.

she seemed to think she was the inevitable one.

The american public seems to have cancelled the coronation.

12. One more note....
Not 10 minutes after I posted this, two fresh faced young volunteers came to my door asking for me to vote for Barack Obama. I live in a Republican enclave in Ohio. I will place a bet right now that no one from the Clinton campaign comes to my door. Anyone denying the momentum and outpouring of support for Obama is deluding themselves.
