Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 10:13 PM by SoCalDem
An angry Mom (I confess, I was sarcastic at times too) bawling out her naughty teenager and trying to be mean about it while she was at it..

Probably every grownup out there had a flashback to a time their Mom ripped 'em a new one..

It was an odd tone to take, for a person not all that known for sarcasm & jokes.. It came off as desperate..and embarrassing..and I'm betting that a lot of people were totally turned off for making them remember a time when they hated their Mom..

Vote for Mean Snarky Mom!...um...maybe not

She felt safe up there in RI and we got to see the real Hillary. Bitter, condescending and just mean.

22. Here's the full quote:
Here's the full quote:

"My job is to be so persuasive that if there's anybody left out there who is still not sure whether they will vote, or is still not clear who they will vote for, that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama."

When you hear him actually speak, you quickly realize that he mixes in light sarcasm, humor, policy, metaphors, rebuttals to attacks, etc.

For example, suppose I'm entered into a chili cook-off, and we're allowed to give a short speech. I could say, "I've done my best, and I hope you like my chili!" Or, I could say, "My chili is so good, when you take the first bite your taste buds will explode with pleasure like they've never done so before, and you will experience an epiphany - you will realize that the only chili worthy of your vote is in front of you." The latter, said with a hint of humor and a smile, will be more memorable. (If said poorly, it could be a turn-off.)

9. You know, it reminded me of one of those "gurrrlfriend" moments.
Like when me and one or two "gurlfriends" are on our third bottle of wine on a Friday night in somebody's living room or kitchen, and "we get to talkin'" -- with the unspoken understanding that what's said in the house, stays in the house.

What in the world has gotten into Hillary? If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would have thought someone describing her behavior was exaggerating.

31. Brought back a vivid memory.. I was 16 I think
My girlfriend and i were watching tv in my room, and my mother burst into my room and screamed "YOUR ASHTRAY MADAME"..and proceeded to throw a glass ashtray at the wall by my bed..

Needless to say, when she left, my friend and I almost wet the bed from laughing at her "act".

apparently she did find the ashtray under my bed, and decided to embarrass me in front of my friend.. I was not the one who was embarrassed ..except for the part of having a crazy mother .

It was even worse than I expected. Gee, way to gain supporters.... insult as bitterly as possible the supporters of your opponent.

I am really gald she probably won't get the nomination, because if she were, I am starting to doubt I could vote for her at all, much less give any time, energy, or money.

What a bitter, spiteful, horrid person she has become.

they just are what they are..

and BTW..if Hillary ends up the candidate I will gladly vote for her.. I do not dislike her.. I do not think she is well-advised, and i feel sorry for her predicament..

Everyone wants to be the Prom Queen, but people will always vote for the one they like..not necessarily the smartest one or the one most ready to BE Prom Queen..

If she makes it to the nominee spot, she should FIRE everyone who has worked for her up until now.. They have served her poorly..spent too much money, and done a piss-poor job of strategy..

It's hard to think of any negative stereotype of women that hasn't been used here against Clinton.

I think she's a rorschach test for people with serious mommy issues.

50. Are devils, monkeys and buffoons
common stereotypes for men? Not in my experience.

If anybody here so readily used stereotypes of black men to depict Obama, they'd be tombstoned. But the blatant sexism against Clinton is A-OK.

It's not valid or constructive criticism to betray her as a witch, as an evil stepmother, as a cackling hag, etc. etc. But the sexism is so ingrained you guys can't even stop for a minute to consider that what you're doing is wrong.

said she had experienced more discrimination as a woman than as a black.

Forty years after her historic run for president, so-called liberals love the black man, hate the white woman. Very telling.

I don't care if people feel offended...she was ugly when she was chortling that nonsense. She brought out her Inner Goldwater Girl at that moment. She was enjoying putting down Obama supporters and mocking them like only the best Repug could.

She is very ugly on the inside. She proved she is not up to the task of being President...again.

29. So who does Obama remind you of when he

sits there and looks down his nose at Senator Clinton when she's talking OR scribbles notes while she's talking, not looking at her at all?

She looks at him when he talks and listens, only occasionally making a note.

I thought what she said was funny because it parodied his speech about voters having an "epiphany" about voting for him, which was a weird bit. If anybody but Obama had used religious terms the way he has, DU would hate the person. But Obama can do no wrong in the eyes of his supporters and that's damned scary.
