Louis Farrakhan Calls Obama the "hope of the entire world"

Now I know why Obama supporters have been in a tizzy about Drudge today; anything to avoid discussing Farrakhan praising Obama for nearly two hours in a speech before 20,000 at the Nation of Islam's annual "Saviours' Day" event!

Quotes:

"Farrakhan compared Obama to the religion's founder, Fard Muhammad, who also had a white mother and black father."

"A black man with a white mother became a savior to us," he told the crowd of mostly followers."

Or maybe you all just hadn't heard about this. I didn't see the news last night myself and the story posted in LBN was locked early on because it linked to a video of the speech.

Voters are going to be a lot more worried about a bona fide news story about Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam spending most of a nearly two-hour long speech praising Obama than about a photo of Obama in a robe that some unknown person sent to Drudge. Most voters have never heard of Drudge but they do watch TV news and/or read newspapers.

Obama's campaign says he hasn't solicited Farrakhan's support, so what do you think -- was Obama set up by Farrakhan the way Clinton was by Drudge? If so, why?

How long before it comes out that Obama's mentor, the minister of his church, went to Libya with Farrakhan to visit Qadafi?

Or that Obama's church gave Farrakhan an award?

I thought the media would save all this for after the convention but Farrakhan started the ball rolling early.

MSNBC is talking about it tonight and CNN probably is, too. As for FOX, I don't think we need to wonder if they are covering it.

..with a small gathering of members of the local jewish community.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/01/15/obama_decries_farrakhan_statem_1.html?hpid=topnews

"I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan," Obama said in the statement. "I assume that Trumpet Magazine made its own decision to honor Farrakhan based on his efforts to rehabilitate ex-offenders, but it is not a decision with which I agree."

about his church and it's leader and questionable friends. If the media would get busy and dig before the GE we'd all be better off. We don't need our enimies that close the possible president. Of course if BO wants to drop out of the race then it doesn't matter who his friends are.

What a crock. And there is nothing wrong with his church. The media has repeatedly run stories about his church and his pastor. And he evidently has fewer questionable friends than Bill and hilly dear. Giustra, Marc Rich's lovely wife, Denise, Gupta, Buckle and many, many more. Face it, you girl is done, over. Democrats are running from her en masse.

59. Are these the issues he speaks on that you think are right on target?
"White people are potential humans - they haven't evolved yet."

"It seems like being gay or whatever sin you wish to be a part of is okay ... but I have the duty to lift that gay person up to the standard to ask if they want to live the life that God wants them to or live the lifestyle that they want to live."

"They are the greatest controllers of black minds, black intelligence. They write the scripts - the foolish scripts on television that our people portray. They are the movie moguls that feature us in these silly, degrading, degenerate roles."

“I call them the so-called Jews because to be a Jew you have to adhere to the statutes and laws that create the special relationship. How can you be a Jew and promote homosexual marriage?”

8. Who cares?
It'll make a minor ripple but I don't think that most people are all that concerned about what Farrakhan says or thinks. The GOP will cream their pants over it. Then they'll get all pissy a week later when they notice that nobody is paying attention and write lots of posts along the lines of 'Why can't people SEE WHAT IS GOING ON!!! They're SHEEPLE!!!!'.

After that they'll blame the liberal media for giving Obama such an easy ride, which is what they always do - much as disgruntled militant lefties blame the corporate media for their lack of political relevance. Extremists at both ends of the political spectrum hate the 'MSM' and think they're pat of a conspiracy, they just differ on the details of who controls it.

Yes, the 3rd world is watching this circus side show.
Truely, they are looking on in awe

The oddity of it.
Maybe democracy isn't just for rich white men ?

dozens about the Obama in Muslim clothing photo at Drudge that somehow HAD to be Hillary Clinton's fault.

Sensible Obama supporters, as opposed to Obamaniacs, would see this as a problem for their man rather than attacking the messenger, as most in this thread have chosen to do.

39. OK Farrakhan is controversial to many
He is also respected by many. He is a complex man who has done and said a lot of things that almost everyone has to agree are positive as well as doing and saying other things that people strongly differ about. So what. He is entitled to his opinion just like everyone else. This is not a destructive opinion he is voicing, it is a hopeful opinion. It is not a call for conflict, it is a hope for a better future.

In Iraq American agents are trying desperately to pull faction leaders with wildly different view points, even extreme view points, into the political process because that is so much better than having them fight the political process from outside.

I understand why given the reality of mainstream politics why Obama has to be careful how closely he appears to embrace Farrakhan, but here Farrakhan is embracing him. There is no honest harm in that. It is all good.
