Watching Nader on Tucker right now.
Probably going to get flamed for this, but I REALLY wish he was running as a Democrat. He's saying all the things that need to be done. Solar energy, impeach bush/cheney, 2 state solution for israel and palestine, corporate crime. It's really a shame he's running as a spoiler. I would like to be able to vote for him without enabling McCain. Unfortunately, that's not possible.

3. Honestly, I don't know why he doesn't do what Dennis did.
He'd be more effective. If he'd done it from the start, he could even be in line for Attorney General rather than the reviled figure he is now.

4. Why doesn't he run for one of the other hundreds of polical positions
he might actually have more than a 0% chance of winning? Governor? Senator? Congressman? Mayor? Is that beneath him?

7. I ask the same thing...
And the irony is if he did, he would probably get lots of support from Dems.

Though for the moment and probably longer - I really resent the selfish, arrogant prick.

Yet this go around, people know what McCain (aka Shrub 3) would do to our country. I don't think Nader will be much of a threat - but ya never know. Damn shame we have to waste time even thinking about it at all!

8. Exactly!
I've said the same thing to Nader supporters. Why not try building a base first -- win some local/state elections first and grow your base. Unless they simply like being part of the fringe and becoming an established party would seem like a "sell-out."

9. Exactly and he could've done a lot to build the green party
or a viable 3rd party.

I can't understand after his last showing why he even gets air time. I bet there are other 3rd party candidates out there who got nearly as many votes. Anyone know if any 3rd party candidate was near him in '04?

12. And what positive effect did his message have the last two times?
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 06:37 PM by skipos
Regardless, I don't remember hearding any message besides "BUSH WINS!!!"

Is the only way for anyone to get their message out to run for President? Somebody should have told MLK.

13. Nader is a professional shit-stirrer. It's the only way media will give him air time
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 06:44 PM by Winebrat
And I didn't imply he had a positive effect on the election.

edit: spelling

11. Dennis Kucinich.
notice how much real media coverage he got?

Then Edwards, not quite as progressive as DK, but pretty damn good. He got the full pravda disappearance treatment after being subjected to the 'feminization by haircut and breck girl meme' at the start of his campaign.

Our progressive candidates who work within the party get sandbagged.
