Clinton Supporter Stabs Obama Supporter
We knew the question of health care mandates was divisive, but not this divisive. Prosecutors in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, says that “two brothers-in-law” got into such a heated debate over Barack and Hillary that one stabbed the other. Naturally, the Clinton supporter — or should we say, Clinton surrogate? — was the stabber.

The debate got out of hand when these brothers-in-law tried to “settle the presidential race on the kitchen floor of a Collegeville, Pa. home.” Hey, as long as they settle it somewhere, soon:

Judging by today's posts I don't think some of the posters here are too far from this story.

I'll be the first to admit some Hillary supporters are homicidal, but lets not go so far as to assume they are any more likely to be the stabber in this scenario.

24. And the Clinton supporter is a registered Republican. Interesting.
Also, if they bring this to trial before November, he won't be able to vote.

"1 Montco Brother-in-Law Stabs Another in Voting Dispute

by KYW's Brad Segall

The race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination continues to heat up -- but in one Montgomery County, Pa. household, the debate turned violent.

Prosecutors say that two brothers-in-law tried to settle the presidential race on the kitchen floor of a Collegeville, Pa. home.

Jose Ortiz, 28, is now behind bars on felony assault charges after prosecutors say he stabbed Sean Shurelds inside a home in the 100 block of Honeylocust Court.

District attorney Risa Ferman says a heated debate over the candidates escalated into violence:

"One is a supporter of Barack Obama, the other is a supporter of Hillary Clinton, and an argument of words turned bloody when one brother-in-law tried to choke the other and the victim then responded with a knife and stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach.”

Shurelds was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Ortiz is jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail. Police found the knife in the dishwasher.

If Ortiz is convicted of the felony charge, he won’t be able to vote. And voter registration records reveal that Ortiz, who supports Clinton, is registered Republican."

38. It appears to be true, but the point to take from this is, we need to all cool down a bit.
It could have easily been the other way around - that is beside the point to me.
He almost killed a relative over this. If nothing else, think of the family, and perhaps their kids.

No Obama supporters should gloat over it, but we should all take it as a lesson in escalation, and the damage that it can do.

My guess is that they were both fighting equally, but the Clinton supporter escalated things and crossed the line by grabbing the knife.

we need healthcare reform: treatment for the stabee; mental health treatment for the stabber.

No, I won't attribute it to a campaign.

But what we really will not need would be any Clinton knives in the back of an Obama campaign after the convention.

32. I figured on a parody
What, the writers are back off strike. why with the reality programming still?

From the article:
"This violent surrogate of Clinton’s may be stripped of his most important American right, too:
If Ortiz is convicted of the felony charge, he won’t be able to vote. And voter registration records reveal that Ortiz, who supports Clinton, is registered Republican."

So much irony. Dripping from every pore of this unfortunate event. Barack guy chokes Hillary guy. Hillary guy stabs Barack guy. Then puts the knife in a dishwasher. Hillary guy may loose his vote because of it. Hillary guy is a Republican. Fish in a Barrel no matter what direction you are coming to it from.

41. It appears to be a true story.
It's being reported in our local news.

http://www.nbc10.com/news/15404993/detail.html?dl=headlineclick

NORRISTOWN, Pa. -- Montgomery County authorities said a man stabbed his brother-in-law during an argument over who should get the Democratic nomination for president.

What's more, 28-year-old Jose Ortiz, who's charged with felony assault, is a registered Republican.

District Attorney Risa Ferman said Ortiz supports Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sean Shurelds supports Barack Obama.

Ferman told reporters Monday that the two men got into an argument in a Collegeville home Thursday night and Shurelds tried to choke Ortiz. She said Ortiz then stabbed Shurelds in the abdomen.

Shurelds was taken to a hospital in critical condition but expected to recover.
