I am thinking back to Lyndon Johnson's election
Remember people some on this board are the very democrats that voted for Lyndon Johnson, even with the republicans really giving us hell all the way to the ballot box. And now you want to throw us out of the party because we don't think the way you do? I will vote for either, but my choice was Edwards and now Hillary, because he has the experience and the know how to get thing done. She is the best prepared to lead the country and has paid her dues.

The only folks I have problems with are Demcorats who say they won't vote for whomever becomes our nominee.

15. Just because BO calls himself a Dem. doesn't mean he is.
He praises Reagan and thinks Lieberman is great. He lies about his policies. His wife put her foot in her mouth like he does and then weasels out of it just like she's trying to do. They say things that anyone else would get buried for but all they have to say is oh, that's not what I meant. Ya, right. No thanks, that man is no Dem. He has no experience and this country can't afford a novice in that position. Then of course the very last straw is the nasty, mean posts his supporters write on DU. I think that has done a lot to make me take a good long look at him and what kind of gov. he will have. No thanks, he may call himself a Dem but not in my book. I can not support a man like him. I want a proven, knowledgeable, hard working President, one we can be proud of not one that's arrogant and cocky. We already have one of those. We sure don't need another.

13. Never mind that he got 25,000 American soldiers killed
fighting a war that he knew was lost from the git go.

Try looking at the WHOLE record.

21. Biggest flaw
He was naive in terms of foreign policy. He was never a FP guy; he valued domestic policy far more. He was pressured to escalate the Vietnam War b/c people thought the Dems were soft on Communism. Too bad he made the wrong choice; it really hurts the legacy of a truly progressive President. As I recall, the war also shattered him spiritually. I remember my instructor telling me that he was a broken war after leaving office.

22. Trying to fight a war, have a Great Society and go to the moon
all at the same time led to the stagflation of the '70s and the ridiculous interest rates of the early '80s.

Kennedy couldn't get programs passed, Lyndon Johnson got the Civil Rights act passed, something Kennedy wanted and couldn't get done.

they were just "doing their job".

8. John McCain has more experience than Hillary, and has paid more dues....
...since those are the sole reasons you list for preferring Clinton to Obama.....

Can we therefore expect you to be voting for John McCain in the General Election?

After all... experience and "paid dues" are your two most important factors.

11. I also went Edwards to Hillary
not because I thought she had "paid her dues" but more because I thought she would dig up Truman's old "The Buck Stops Here" plaque. Now she's toast.

But it's a looooong way to the GE, and the media can (and probably will) screw Obama six ways for Sunday between now and then. I think Obama would make a fine prez, but I'm not convinced that he's got it in the GE bag.

14. If she's not prepared to deal with Obama, how is she prepared
to deal with Ahmadinijad? How is she prepared to deal with the UN? If she can't handle the finances of her campaign, how is she prepared to handle the finances of the nation?

Just because a lot of people have called her names, it doesn't mean she's "paid her dues".

18. Big Tent. That's us. I don't want anyone leaving. I want 50% plus.
Always.

It's vicious this year, but it's always vicious when the nominee process doesn't end quickly and it comes down to two left standing. It doesn't get any uglier than Kennedy v. Johnson in 1960. I was a kid, but I remember following it with my dad, and watching convention coverage on TV. When LBJ lost, and then took the VP, I remember thinking "huh?"

This will pass in time.
