Not a "glamours topic" but Hillary's response about SCIENCE was right
on target. Many of our problems with security, energy, mileage etc. can be effectively solved with a new and greater push in support of real science. She has a real grasp of the issues and the solutions needed to address the problems facing the nation. It's not cheerleading that is her strong suit, but understanding of the issues, problems, and solutions that this country needs. She has to be the one to push these issues that go over most voters heads, including the media. They all want to focus on what makes headlines, sniping, attacking, speeches, etc. Give me the candidate with the best ideas and the best thinking on how to implement the ideas.

4. Beg to differ
It was not a response. The question was not remotely related to science. Instead, she steered her answer over there so she could repeat that same stump speech line (which I have heard over a dozen times). She did a similar thing when asked about why she would be better suited to be commander in chief from day one, as she claims. Her answer was on health care. Her answer was so far off base they had to interrupt her and ask her the original question again. She ticked Jorge off with that one.

5. Maybe she wouldn't have had to
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 10:21 AM by maddiejoan
If CNN hadn't kept cutting to a commercial break after Obama's responses --giving her no place to respond to attacks from him.

9. She's good on issues in general.
Science and green tech are two of them. I hope science is a part of the general election. Somebody needs to tell this country that we're going all in on science.

14. Agreed...
Hit home for me as I work in scientific R&D and we depend on federal funding to do our work.

It was a great line.

18. I've lost confidence in Hillary's ability to be president, despite her good ideas
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 11:55 AM by Voice for Peace
Primarily because of the mismanagement of her campaign & campaign finances.
Plus the dirty politics, and that's a big one. And I can't get past the IWR, the
Cluster Bombs, and the Kyle-Lieberman. Then there was her statement to
Tavis Smiley the other night: "I believe in coercive diplomacy." Which to me
means: we'll be diplomatic as long as you do what we say, and if you don't
we're gonna make you do it.

Also, when she was talking about her ability to fix the economy, I couldn't help
myself: I don't want more of Bill Clinton. When she talked about how she had
survived some difficult crises I naturally thought of Bill's indiscretions and
that electing her means electing him too.

And I've lost confidence in her ability to effect real change because I think
she would be violently opposed every step of the way in trying to implement
her ideas. Obama's point about good ideas going to Washington to die is
an excellent one.

I've become an Obama supporter not because I think Obama is God but
mainly because of his effect on the voting population. Time may prove me
wrong but currently I get a very different sense from the two candidates:

With Hillary, a sense that she stands for a big government that will do
the thinking for the little people; we just have to trust and believe
her.
With Obama, a sense that he genuinely is interested in the activism of
the people, with a commitment to transparency and change whenever
change is needed.
