He thinks while he talks
Wouldn't it be nice to have a president that does that. Or thinks PERIOD!

1. I was watching the debate last night and noticed that
he would stop in mid-sentence and then continue with what he was saying-sometimes changing his train of thought

most people do that unless they reading from a script or spouting stuff that's been memorized

I liked that

3. God! You're right! I've noticed that but couldn't put my finger on
what it was. He's thinking, not reading, not listening to prompts in his ear. We may be about to see a statesman in the WH. What a new world that would be!

7. Let's see... Harvard Law Review president... con law professor...
Yeah, I think he probably can think on his own rather than read a teleprompter

:)

5. And he actually answers the questions!
I'm listening to a replay on XM radio right now. They had a question about what life experience makes you qualified to be President. He cited his life experience working up from a humble beginning and learning to fit in and figure out who he was.
Hillary gave just a one-line answer: everybody knows what she's been through! Then she went into a canned spiel about how people ask her how she "does it" and then went on about the Intrepid and how hard the wounded soldiers have it. Which was not the question at all.

This wasn't the only time that instead of answering the question directly, her answer was, "lalala..."

6. Bingo. That's the biggest appeal for me
A question is asked, and he answers it. He doesn't go into a canned speech about something marginally (or not at all) related to the question.

Or, to plagiarize him, he doesn't okie-doke.

8. At this point, it would be nice to have a president that can put two words together.
I think that's partly why Obama appears so "brilliant." Compared to Bush, Obama's a genius.

10. Another thing I have noticed...
... is that he has improved as a debater during this process. His early debates he seemed generally uncomfortable with the format but has certainly seemed to have grown into it.

Nice to see someone who can learn and grow. It's been fun to watch the evolution. By the time the GE rolls around he's gonna be ready to crush McCain in debates.

11. Because He Needs to Prepare More
And is unsure of himself when he's not delivering a monologue.

12. Wrong
No matter how the CNN pundits spun the debate (because they want a close race that continues to bump their ratings), I think that most people who watched the whole thing would call it for Obama.

He thoughtfully and directly answered each question and presented himself in a favorable light, while HRC actually got BOOs from the audience? I've never seen that happen before in a presidential debate. Anyone ever see that happen?

13. No, that's not it.
He hesitates, and I'm thinking, oops-- he's unsure of what to say. He's going to blow it. But then no, it turns out okay because he's actually thinking of how best to express his thought. It's called being thoughtful.

This is his style, and it will probably come to be imitated by others when he's President.
