John Kerry and Oliver Stone
anyone ever think about the similarities and/or coincidences of these 2 share?

I don't know if you're aware, but the character of Charlie in Platoon is based on Stone. He was also a rich kid that enlisted and recieved many honors and medals.

Kerry of course was a rich kid who decided to enlist, faught, and came home to appose the war. Clearly Stone, if you've seen any of his major historical-based films, believes that the war was unjust.

Kerry was put on Nixon's enemies list. Stone made "Nixon".

And of course JFK. We all know the striking similarities between Kerry and Kennedy. Wealthy Boston families. Ivy League education. Same initials. War hero from the navy. Senator from Massachusetts.

And Stone obviously made JFK. Just some food for thought.

1. Yes but
Kerry had nothing to do with the making of the movie "The Doors," which was, in my opinion, a greater crime against humanity than any atrocity commited by any armed force in Vietnam.

4. Holy poopy pants!
In another startling parallel, you were born on the 4th of July.

And guess what, there was an Oliver Stone movie almost as shitty as "The Doors" called, you guessed it... "Born on the Fourth of July"!!!

Craziness!

7. Kerry supported the criminal invasion of Iraq, Oliver Stone did not!
I don't see any similarities between the two. Oliver Stone has remained true to his liberal ideals and pacifism, while Kerry has betrayed his.

8. Pacifism isn't a liberal ideal. It's a utopian idea, that is unrealistic
in todays world. Supporting invasion of Iraq is certainly something I wouldn't put myself on the side of. But I wouldn't put Kerry there either. But I would count almost no senators that signed no on the resolution to be pacifists.

He signed a resolution to increase the threat to Saddam to comply with 1441, which, obviously the republicans also used to devide the democratic party.

Pacifists the founding fathers, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, and FDR were not, and America owes them a great gratitude for that

11. and the Bush administration, who by the way didn't target civilians
would never be confused for liberals. and they certainly certainly aren't pacifists either.

You're not really making a point a point here.

10. I am very impressed with Kerry's handling of the Vietnam issue
It took a lot of courage for a veteran to protest the war. He's a good man.
