I'll use one of my posts in here tonight for a comment.
And it's an apology to the Obama supporters here.

I'm seeing some nasty, nasty stuff in here right now. You know what I'm talking about.

Race baiting is inexcusible. Period. Under any circumstances. I'm disgusted seeing it in here.

This may get locked. And I understand. Referring to locked posts and all.

2. Baiting is unacceptable period.
Race-baiting and gender-baiting are horseshit distractions. Let's focus on the issues and the goal, which is to get the best candidate positioned to send the Republicans out of power for a long time.

13. Yes.
Look...regardless of whether you support Obama or Hillary...we're facing yet another white male who could be President. And whether you agree with Obama or Hillary, we have a chance...a superb chance...of making history. Imagine...a woman or an African-American President. That's exciting. But to forget that and just use race or gender for nasty shit...it's awful.

8. I generally reject conspiracy theory, but I really think we are being played.
There is a definite trend of new members who are inciting riots all over the board. And they tend to "edit" each post one minute after making it, leading me to believe that some people are playing a game. Perhaps college kids, perhaps somebody else.

And it is hard to tell when a real member is just having a laugh and when someone is really trying to be disruptive for sport.

I don't want us to lose our sense of humor, though. So I hope we can tell the difference between fun between neighbors and being played with.

Please do not mis-construe. I am not defending race-baiting. I just think some of the messengers are laughing their heads off.

10. I really can tell.
I've been here for 4+ years. I can spot them instantly. I knew Hill08 wouldn't last. When people show up flaming candidates, you know they are troublemakers.

14. But other people aren't that perceptive
And they get all wrapped up in it. Some of these posts get tons of replies before being locked or deleted. And part of the game might be how many responses you can get.

18. "Conspiracy" is common. college repubs and freepers, brag about it on their sites.
There were several that came straight out of the h=44 site (http://www.hillaryis44.org/)
cut and pasted directly.

Faux outrages this week that came from that site:

Obama used "periodically" as an anti-woman slur.
Obama is "urkel" (google obama urkel, see the magic.
"Lets get that fainting story out to all the radio shows and forums!"
i will NEVER vote for that man - "Telll everybody!"

New talking points about how "pretentious" and "over the top" in reference to his special comments. Exact same terms, repeated.
Attacks on MSNBC, saying "even FOX is better" and then contacting O'Reilly, hannity, etc.

there are several more, but it hurts my wrists to type, so will leave it there.

These are freepers of SOME kind, and trying to tear us down, suppress turnout, party cohesiveness...
It is an old tradition, in a new medium.

You are right.
when you see some of these, just google the terms, and see the sources.
Quite telling.
some here who have 1000+ in a month, never answer even the most polite questions, are here to crush DU as a valued site.

20. Fascinating.
Some of them are very good. I consider myself an intelligent, intuitive person, but I have gotten sucked in and only seen it later. I am trying to get better.

Sorry about your wrists. But thank you very, very much for the info.

11. it's a small number of people on both sides. Ignore them, they'll get frustrated & flame themselves
out into a tombstone.

That's what moderators always say.

15. You are to be commended, terrya! We are better than this.
Same with any of the stupid hits on Hillary. We should discourage that stuff on both sides, and I join you in that.

Thank you!

16. I think Obama supporters knew he was a troll
And I have to tell ya.......I wasn't happy when he put on a Clinton avatar. It's bad enough we are at each others throats around here anyway....we certainly didn't need some cretin dance in just to purposely stir the caca.

19. I don't post much, but...
for what it's worth, this has become the most hateful Democratic website over the last few months. A few of my Republican friends love the idea of democrats tearing each other apart over the elections, and they only hope that the deadlock continues for months. Insulting someone's intelligence seems to be the name of the game lately and I for one am sick of it.

This whole process and some of the reactions to it on this board are absolutely appalling. And if I hear one more "oh, boo hoo, politics is tough, go deal with it" I'm probably going to lose it. No shit! Politics is a nasty business, which is why most people with half a brain don't get into it. But for the love of all that's holy, the trollers on this board have got to be in absolute heaven as we cannibalize each other here. I fundamentally disagree with much of what is said about Obama and Hillary, but I'll be damned if I'm going to trash someone I don't even know, anonymously, over one's opinion. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, it's completely unacceptable to do it online. Weiners hide behind their computers and get their panties in a bunch-that's right, I called 'em weiners and I would call anyone a weiner to their face it they were practicing the jackassery that's been going on here. If it weren't for terms like "universal health care" and "end the war" and "impeachment", I would swear to god that I had accidentally entered some wingnut board.

I've skipped a lot of suspicious threads so I don't know to what specific threads to which you're referring -- but I both trust your judgment and agree with you totally about any race baiting on this forum.
