Hey Hillary, Who You Calling Chicken?

Tasini's Chicken
September 4, 2006

In place of the colorful West Indian Day Parade pictures you were expecting, here is an image of a Hillary Clinton heckler unhappy that she's not debating Jonathan Tasini.

Points for effort, if not originality. But the chicken costume - which was once deployed during one of Bill Clinton's campaigns - may not get Hillary to the podium.

In their endorsement of Hillary on Sunday, the Times wrote, "we are sorry that Mrs. Clinton did not respond to his demands for a debate." Which sounds pretty final.

---snip---

Clinton's campaign has issued another Wisconsin ad that suggests Obama is a chicken when it comes to going one-on-one with the former first lady.

"Barack Obama still won't agree to debate in Wisconsin," the Clinton ad says. "And now he's hiding behind false attack ads."

2. how DARE you raise facts about Hillary?
don't you realize that the past is gone, the present is hers, and the future is all up Hill from here?
You just don't get it. When she refuses to debate, it is smart policy, even though she wasted 40 MILLION in an election with no real opponent.
When those she deigns appropriate to meet in a debate refuse to accept her every demand and whim, THEY are being unreasonable, fearful, and unworthy.

It is so simple, don't you see? She and George have one thing in common (several, actually, like Iraq/Iran policies and FISA, Patriot, etc) either you are 100% with her, or you are her enemy.

3. Really mature post.
Notice it's Obama who won't go to a debate, but you have nothing to say about him. Maybe because Clinton supporters don't dress up like chickens...

Sure, that's fair. :sarcasm:

6. First of all they've debated 18 times and are gonna debate twice more
Second of all the op makes a great point that this is quite hypocritical of Hillary to be calling out Obama when she wouldn't debate Tasini.

12. Actually, I Believe It's Only Been One, Right?
I can only remember ONE debate they've had when they were the only two in the game. When it's down to just two, that's when the debates take on even more meaning because then it becomes far clearer as to where each stands in comparison.

So tell me, how many one on one's have they had?

16. That's A Bunch Of Crap. One On One's Are Extremely Important Down The Stretch And You Know It.
To use the previous debates as evidence that they've debated enough, is disingenuous at best. Personally, I think there were too many debates when the field was large. But now that it's down to two in a neck and neck contest, they ABSOLUTELY should be debating for all to see. It's the most important aspect for voters to see as it relates to who would be the best candidate.

So far, to my recollection, they've only had one. So much has happened since, and it's time for another. Why don't you want one?

29. Like I said before there are two more on the way. Why is that not enough for you?
You want to take away as much time from their campaigning as possible? Since you know whenever Obama starts campaigning somewhere he starts to do better.

36. There's Been Far Too Much Time Since The Last One For A Primary This Heated.
When things are as close as they are and as competitive as they are, the best way for voters to distinguish the differences between the two is through direct debate and confrontation. I couldn't help laugh at your projection a bit though.

See, the simple fact is that Obama, and many of his supporters, know damn well that he's on a magic carpet ride of rhetoric. He knows full well that Hillary is his superior in debates, and that when it comes to policy, experience and direct questioning, he pales in comparison. The question isn't why do I want more debates, the question is why are you so against having another one? The answer is obvious: You know debates take away his edge, because he can't talk nearly as pretty in debates. You'd rather the election be more of a 'game' of motivational speaking rather than actual policy, preparedness and down to the issues debating. You'd rather your candidate win through empty campaign speeches then from actually proving he's the better candidate. It is so obvious that many of the Obama supporters want to avoid more debates like the plague because then he might be exposed as a bit more inexperienced, and as the lesser of the two candidates. And you guys just can't have that! No. Hell with issues and direct one on ones. To hell with the voters really getting down to the nitty gritty and seeing how the candidates handle the fire when confronted directly. Nah. Who needs reality when you have this fantasyland aura that can be exuded with campaign speeches. You ain't kidding anybody, and neither is he.

The fact is, there has NEVER been more of a need for a one on one debate of the issues then there is at this point right now. But he's avoiding them, and so are you. It is quite clear why that avoidance is taking place. It's strategical, for sure. But the reason it's strategical is because he knows it would weaken his aura, because she would be his superior and show that she is in fact the better of the two as it relates to who would make the better president. This is a small cowardly act, have no doubt. At the end of the day, the debates should be the most important aspect of choosing a candidate. But who cares about legitimacy and integrity right? I mean, as long as he takes the cowards way out, he can win right? And winning, even with lack of integrity and honor, is all that counts right? Right? Don't answer. I already know what the answer is.

39. Ok lets talk about issues
Like Hillary voting to drop cluster-bombs in areas with children, Obama voting against, Hillary supporting the wage cape on SS taxes, Obama opposing it, Obama wanting to repeal all of DOMA Hillary not wanting to repeal all of it, Hillary supporting NAFTA and outsourcing and Obama saying no tax breaks for companies that move American jobs offshore. Oh wait Hillary doesn't look so good when you talk about the actual issues does she?

38. It's Amazing How Some Are So Fragile That They Can't Handle Strong Opposing Argument.
I did nothing to you that day for you to put me on ignore other than handily thrash your position and back it up with substance, while you were able to do nothing more than immature namecalling. I always find it HILARIOUS when I get ignored for such reasons, because all it does is show that the poster was so weak minded and fragile that they can't handle when someone confronts them with facts or defeats their arguments. They can only handle when people agree, and fly off the handle in emotional bitterness when god forbid someone challenges their position. Soooooo sorry dear Stephanie that I exposed your argument for the weakness it contained. But ya know, when ya post stupid shit for everyone to see on a message board, you should really kinda be prepared to have the false concepts refuted. That's all I did. I not only refuted your concepts, but did so strongly and competently. Did it really hurt you that much that you had to put me on ignore? LOL. My my, how some can't handle facts. :hi:

I wanted to remember his name, Jonathan Tasini,..thanks Stephanie! This just gets gooeyier and gooeyier for the clinton ragers. In 2002 hilary proved herself to be a chickenshithawk with nothing but political expediency on her brain. Not having a clue that a NO on the IWR would have gotten her closer to where she wants to be than stamping the okay to send our Soldiers off to Iraq when there was absolutely no cause except trying to look tough.

but EVERYTHING one's own candidate does is "tasteful."

It's called bias and lack of objectivity.

It's kind of like posting "this thread is divisive" in threads attacking your candidate all while lauding and recommending threads of similar stupidity (aimed at the other candidate), which is something you are quite familiar with.
