Any details on what Obama has spent on salaries and how he spent it?
I'm interested in a comment from a previous post noting that Obama has way outspent other candidates on salaries. I don't know if this info is available.

Thanks.

4. Open secrets does not record that data
But Mr. Barrack "openness in govt" will not disclose anything other than what the FEC says he has to, which is the total amount spent. As of the reporting period prior to Jan he has spent nearly 23 million on campaign salaries alone.

10. Except opensecrets does provides that info, if you had only clicked the link
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/expend_detail.asp?id=N00009638&code=A20&cycle=2008&descrip=Salaries+%26+Benefits

Now granted they make you sift thru the records 25 at a time but the information is available.

12. Oh bullshit
All it shows you is that he is hiding his payoffs through a bunch of temp agencies. Which proves my point.

3. However much he felt that he should. Why would that be a problem for anyone?
Why would it be a problem for anyone how much Sen. Clinton spent, either?

Both of them run their campaigns as they see fit. Which is fine with me.

5. Because buying organizers is how you win caucus states
You pay people to caucus for you and round up other people to caucus for you. It's a hair short of buying votes with cash.

13. That's why you click the ignore button for people like that.
I find it amusing to count the number times I see "ignored" in threads. The number just keeps going up and up.

I think what the OP is curious about is why the Clinton staff is not getting paid any more.

Yes... they said they volunteered to go without pay.

7. or you use the money to buy lots of advertising on tv
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 05:10 PM by fenriswolf
I'm sure alot of people would jump at the chance to work for obama and get paid to do it. Imagine getting paid to talk to people all day about Obama, voting and helping people get registered to vote and providing access to information. Yes money does buy votes, thats why money is so important to this race. If Obama spent alot of money to get "feet in the street" whats wrong with that? Hell if I didn't want to do something I wouldn't. But for Obama I would knock on doors the day of the caucus and see if anyone wanted to come vote for obama.

9. It's be better if they bought the votes with whiskey, like in the old days.
I'd enjoy it more, anyway.

16. You've got it completely backwards
The way you win caucus states is to get people to give you money and make them feel invested in the campaign. Once a person feels invested, asking them to volunteer becomes much easier. Empirical studies have shown this to be true time and time and again.

11. He opened offices in 22 states
It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he had spent money on salaries for all those states. It's how he's winning. This whole notion that he is outspending Hillary is ridiculous. He's made better choices because he's a better MANAGER.

15. Yeah caucus states
Where you can hide payoffs to "organizers" by running them through temp agencies. He's corrupt.
