The Soft Bigotry Of Low Expectations
"It is highly unlikely we will win Alaska or North Dakota or Idaho or Nebraska," she said, naming several of Obama's red state wins. "But we have to win Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, Michigan. And we've got to be competitive in places like Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma."

Hillary, reaching for the stars.

1. The states he won dont matter - the states she won do matter.
In in MO - one only needs to be competitive. How convenient!

2. So when Obama wins Virginia, DC and Maryland, this argument becomes moot.

Since 2 of those 3 are traditional Democratic states we need to win in the general if we have any shot at the presidency. Add that with other possible swing states Obama has won already and I'm already starting to see this argument flounder.

Missouri - How many presidents have won the presidency without carrying this state in the past 50 years?
Washington - Believe it or not, it IS a swing state.
Iowa - Another swing state.
Delaware
Colorado
Minnesota
Connecticut
Maine

And then add Maryland, DC, Virginia and possibly Hawaii and Wisconsin. Looks like those are Democratic states we need to win, as well.

3. Hillary is ballot poison in Texas. If she leads the ticket, we lose by 15 points.

5. If Hillary wins it, it matters. If Obama wins it, it doesn't--but if she comes in a close 2nd,
then you only have to be competitive.
