Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 11:30 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
No, he'll sell his supporters out and endorse their nominee if that's what needs doing. He's a natural.

Is there anything in Obama's record that suggests that's not true?

37. Well gee, if people like yourself who are Democrat and/or liberal would vote for Obama
He could very well beat McCain. But no, you'd rather stay home and pout, convinced that what, Obama is as bad as McCain. Gee, if that scenario happens, I do not want to see you around here whining about McCain one bit.

15. It ain't over 'til it's over
And getting there is half of the fun.

You assume that the election of Obama is inevitable. No, he isn't. The voters get to make that decision. And if they should choose Hillary, it doesn't mean that the fix is in, either.

Then, you assume that endorsing the nominee is "selling out". Most people do not. This is a group effort, and Obama is as much a team player as a leader. The best leaders are both.

If Obama loses, it's not like he dies.

I'm saying he won't. Not saying that's wrong, saying it's who he is. A politician and a pretty good one.

38. Even if Hillary wins the nomination by a clear margin ...
... with superdelegates, delegates, and the popular vote, a large number of Obama supporters are going to scream bloody murder that the election was stolen.

Barack Obama isn't just a candidate. He represents hope, optimism, and the future. His loss would mean that there is no hope, no reason to be optimistic, and that the future will not exist as a desirable state. The cynicism that will follow will be destructive.

Yet it's almost certain to happen. Given even odds, there is only a 25% chance that Hillary or Obama will be our next president. It's only 50% that a Democrat will be elected.

So what happens if and when they lose?

23. What will be will be, I will vote dem in November, but I think Super Delegates will be looking
at who is winning the next few weeks. Right now Obama is on fire. If he wins Wisconsin on the 19th and wins either OH or TX then I think a lot of Super Delegates will think about who has the momentum and who looks to be the best bet for November. Which candidate can excite the electorate, bring out independents, bring out young voters and motivate black voters to turn out in record numbers and I think a lot of them will go with Obama--even some who may currently be for Clinton.

happen to the Democratic party if the voters clearly wanted the first black nominee, but party officials gave it to someone else instead? Likewise, the same if Hillary is the clear choice of the voters.

Do you really think Hillary is so selfish that she would destroy the party permanently so that she can get the nomination (and probably lose the general)?

If he doesn't get the nomination, he has to continue being a Democratic Senator, who would universally be expected to support the party nominee. And he would have to fight another day.
