Does the Republican Party Have Aces Up Its Sleeves?

http://counterpunch.com/

Here Come the Brownshirts, Again

-long snip-

On the other hand maybe the Brownshirts have a plan.

What could the plan be?

They can steal the election with the Diebold electronic voting machines and proprietary software that no one is allowed to check. There are now enough elections on record with significant divergences between exit polls and vote tallies that a stolen election can be explained away. The Democrats have been house trained to acquiesce to stolen elections. The voters, whose votes are stolen, dismiss the evidence as "conspiracy theories."

Or what about a well-timed orchestrated "terrorist attack" to drive fearful Americans to the war candidate. False flag events are stock-in-trade. Hitler used the Reichstag fire to turn German democracy into a dictatorship overnight.

-snip-

Does this mean that during the presidential campaign we will hear from Attorney General Michael Mukasey that candidate Hillary is under investigation for a Whitewater-related offense, or that candidate Obama is linked to an alleged crime figure or Islamist?

The neocons control most of the print and TV media, and the right-wing radio talk hosts are no friends of Democrats. As Americans have fallen for every other fraud perpetrated upon them, they are likely to be suckers as well for "investigations" or rumors of investigations of the Democratic candidate. Hillary is widely disliked and easy to distrust. Obama is a new face with which voters have little experience. He is partly black and has a funny name.

DU has discussed these possible events - but perhaps there is a neo con plan we haven't managed to put our gaze on.

2. They don't need 'aces' ....
They have a Democratic party that cannot seem to capitalize on their good fortune, and deliver the 'death blow' to a reeling GOP .....

The people see no 'vision' from our side .... just a bunch of backbiting and dissolute grandstanding ...

8. they are fascist and they'll use fascist methods as per their history

Right now they are (1) giving McCain a chance to cure his problem with the right, (2) giving him a chance to be seen as a winner, (3) giving him a chance to spar with Huckabee in a velvet glove shadow boxing event that will entertain but not hurt either, as they (4) pay homage to the religious right to get them on board with McCain, all in preparation for (5) launching their negatives against Democrats in June.

They will try to pump up Hillary as much as possible, even sending her money, to keep her alive as a candidate. She is their best hope of victory, and as long as she is in the race, they can raise money for themselves AND keep her in the race.

In the summer, they'll start with the war and terror shit.

Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 12:14 PM by Sarah Ibarruri
My question is, are we all going to participate in attacking them back? Or are we going to let a few do all the work and then whine when it's unsuccessful because too few are attacking back? ARE WE READY?

past few years. If there's anything new out there (post 2000), we'll be hearing about it, whether true or not, as soon as she is nominated.

Obama has had pretty much of a free ride since his address to the Democratic Convention (which strangely even Buckley and the National Review loved) and his victory over Alan Keyes ( and wasn't that a strange choice to be made by the Illinois Republican Party once Jack Ryan, who was beating Obama in the early polls, resigned? The Illinois Republicans had nobody at all and had to go to Maryland to find a candidate, an African American one at that, who was not a native or Illinois and had never even lived there? I still can't help thinking there must be a story there.) Once Obama is nominated, Resko will become a household name and God only knows what else, true or not, KKKarl Rove will be feeding them.

Buckle your seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy campaign. You ain't seen nothing yet!
