question about delegates and Florida and Michigan
I've seen several people posting that if there is a "tie" they should seat FL and MI to break it. I'm wondering though if that doesn't raise the threshold of delegates needed to win. Basically, my question is: were the MI and FL delegates factored into the 2025 delegates needed to win or not? If they get added does the threshold also rise? I've never really paid that much attention to delegates before this election and don't know how they decided to do it. I think, from what I've read about the decision to exclude them, that they are also excluded from the total required, but can't seem to find where I read that.

This question is in reference to the WP article that it is mathmatically impossible for either of them to reach the threshold needed to win without the super-delegates. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4462722

1. Good question, and I too am waiting for someone to answer
it. Bottom line is that there must be a settlement satisfactory to the Democratic Parties of Michigan and Florida. We mustn't go into the general election with those two states disgruntled or alienated. We need them in the blue column.

2. My understanding, if it is a tie in the first balloting, ALL delegates will be relased
for the second round. All meaning, every single one, including FL and MI. The second round of voting will include them, allowing them to vote however they want, just as each of the other delegates will then have that ability to go to whomever.

If it ties, it will go Brokered, and the MI and FL delegates will have as mush say as the others. And, basically, every state's voters will have as much of a say as FL and MI's voters---none.

Please correct me if I am worng on any of this.

3. This scenario has been raised to Dean, civil rights activists, and general talking heads. And he...
...basically said it if comes down to the wire and we don't have an actual candidate coming out of June then he will have a sit down with both candidates and broker the nomination in private.

A brokered convention is the last thing the country needs.

4. 2025 does NOT include FL and MI
Check here

2208 would be needed if FL and MI were included.
