Obama Supporters: Cease Fire
I know that we get as good as we give, but the threads on here today have convinced me that Clinton supporters are getting desperate. I am not worried about having to do a '180' I won't vote for Clinton so it is my fervent hope that Obama is the nominee, but - there is no need for venom.

We know that Obama:

  1. Has all the momentum

  2. Has the fundraising ability

  3. Will draw out voters that will stay home or cast a protest vote if he's not nominated

His message to date though has been about hope, not attacks. Forget Hillary, she has lost the momentum, she has lost the ability to fundraise - stop attacking people who support her, tell them why to vote for Obama - not why to vote against Hillary, because come November we'll want them to vote for Obama. Unless you are in a state that hasn't had it's primary yet, it's time to focus on the general election. If HRC's supporters want to continue spitting venom, let them - they must, after all, be disappointed. Let them vent, but don't respond in kind. If you get angry, log off for a bit or if you can afford it and you get really angry make a donation to Obama and then log off for a bit.

You wouldn't vote for him (whatever your warped reason) if he held your family hostage. Shill.

23. Funny thing, I was on his website the day it came up. I just think Clinton is now, he WAS the future
Not anymore, he lost my support completely.

2. Never, ever, never, ever let attacks go unanswered.....
and always, always, always play offense instead of defense.

I'm not going to allow them to overrun the board with their diatribe.

No way, no how!

3. I'm not saying
Play offense or defense, just ignore them or respond politely. Fighting fire with fire is what got Bush in trouble (didn't help that he was dumb but...)

13. If you notice, folks post their smears, and get others to recommend.....
and then they wait and see if the media vultures will come down to check out what the blogs are talking about.

This is an easy and cheap trick!

How do you think the "snub" became a story?

I ain't having it.

25. Good description of a widespread dynamic ...
Also, as the public was swayed to see the milquetoast 2004 Democratic Convention as more hateful than the Repug hatefest of that year, so you find MORE criticism directed at negativity ostensibly coming from Obama supporters, blame shat down from the OVERWHELMING negativity (handshake-gate and also THE McCLURKIN Demiurge) coming from Obama bashers, now generally for HRC.

It is important to explore just what is the TOTAL agenda of these bashers, who they are, who they answer to and in what ways, and NOT get caught up in simplistic "explanations" about many supposed paid staffers of the HRC campaign (highly unlikely way that this dynamic I describe, which IS PREVALENT on DU, occurs)

It is one of the MOST IMPORTANT issues on DU and the underlying dynamics of it surely precede this primary campaign and will continue after it.

29. Right but..
As someone pointed out below what if Obamas supporters did the same thing - ignored Clinton and turned on McCain the mere fact that the Obama 'camp' didn't care about Hillary anymore would be news in and of itself.

I'm also saying that the Billary campaign is all over but the shouting - It's time to start focusing on things like McCain and who would be a good running mate for Obama

:+bama still couldn't carry California! The most liberal large motherfreeping state in the nation! Couldn't carry it! Probably would do worse than Gray Davis! In fact if :+ bama is our nominee, Barry would lose California to Maverick McCain. It doesn't matter how many people Barry brings into the party if he can't carry California.

It all feels like angry men, scheming, dismissive, unrelieved by any positive, peaceful intent.

And it sounds like the rest of us are just means to their end. Give us your votes and get lost.

I don't want to live in their culture.

You can't be that clueless.

Check out Hillary supporters and explain to me what is redeeming about their behavior on these boards.

I'll be waiting for your views on this.

21. Turning the other cheek in politics is SUICIDE.
While you message is well-taken and true, sadly in the world of politics what you propose would be disadvantageous to Obama. The Clinton smear machine is likely to rev up to a frenzy as their "girl" continues to sink, so taking the "high road" won't work.

Hope your Obama assumptions are as true as they seem.

My hope is Obama has this nomination sewn up by April fools day.

Then we can all focus on the very foolish puke nominee.

31. I haven't started firing
Not all Clinton Supporters are childish twerps like many multiple anti-Obama thread starters here.
Some are mature adults who have their own reasons for believing that their candidate is better than mine.
I disagree and can be civil in my disagreement because if Clinton wins I want to be able to support her with a clean slate.
That said.
I believe Obama will win and make a fine POTUS.

I've been using ignore alot more lately after not having used it much at all the last four years - believe me it makes the board much easier to take, but then I've never cared much for confrontation and prefer just to read the board for news etc and not to argue with people about candidates.
