1. My prediction: IL puts Kerry over the top.
He will pick up his 2161st delegate from my state. :)

2. Just a formality
These Primary Elections are just a formality at this point (actually from early on.) "Our" candidate was selected a long time ago by the media & the DNC. It really has been a farce and the greatest disappointment.

3. That may be true
But put yourself in the shoes of people like me who live in later Primary states. I've signed up now for Kerry, but if I read one more time that the primaries are over I'm going to scream.

You know, every vote counts, right? I thought Democrats were different from Republicans on this topic or am I wrong?

People here constantly complain when the networks call races early before the polls are even closed. I'm not wishing for or even thinking it's possible for anyone else other than Kerry to get the nomination, but some respect for the rights of later primary voters would be GREATLY appreciated.

6. But I agree with you.
That's exactly why I said it was a formality, a farce and a great disappointment. Because I wish every vote did carry the same weight and value.

"You know, every vote counts, right? I thought Democrats were different from Republicans on this topic or am I wrong?"
I know every vote SHOULD count. It's a letdown to see that in this area the Democrats are not very different than the Republicans. I truly respect the rights of later primary voters, of all primary voters and that was the basis of my comments of disgust with the primary process. We're on the same side on this.

8. sorry if I wasn't clear
It's a sore topic with me and I should have noted that I was being sarcastic in some parts of my comments. Anyway, it's good you listed the upcoming primaries, it's important for everyone to get out and vote regardless of the flaws in the system.

9. I'm also running on very little sleep right now
I've had insomnia most of the week. I think I've had a total of 10 hours the past five days.

No harm.

10. Every vote does count
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 02:56 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
I'm from Montana so it was pretty unlikely that the nominee wouldn't be obvious by the time we vote, but it is just a fallacy to think they my vote counts any less than someone in New Hampshire, although that vote may be more influential.

Plus it is an oppportunity to talk to people, energize people, register people to vote, give them a way to channel their opposition to Bush.

All of these primary elections are a chance to engage people who have been disaffected from the political process but also know that Bush is the worst President never elected. Let them know that they can make a difference, but only if they vote, keep Bush on the defensive with big turnouts.

The primaries are also good practice for November. It's always easier doing things after a practice run, so do all the campaigning, organizing etc. you can and it will all pay off in November.
