My thoughts and prayers are with them all. To all who were frightened and hurt, to all who lost, to all who worry about loved ones tonight.

16. I have family
in Arkansas. I will check on them first thing tomorrow.

Tornados? I live in (J)Oklahoma. I've been through several - and I've learned to read the indicators. I ***HATE*** storms that have tornado potential. Can't imagine a hurricane.

12. It's a big storm...people occasionally (tragically) die...
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 02:08 AM by MercutioATC
When was the last time you saw somebody post how many people died in traffic accidents (or drug overdoses, or from complications from AIDS, or medical malpractice) in reference to the rest of us taking interest in national elections?

(on edit)

Ah, shit....and you're a pilot and from the Cleveland area. It's possible we've spoken already...

13. I see three posibilities here.
1. You are being deliberately obtuse to cover your ass.
2. You may have a personality disorder.
3. Combine 1 & 2.

15. Obtuse? Not in the least.
1) I'm clearly stating that (to me) the OP seemed to be trying to draw a distinction of importance between people who died as the result of bad weather and the rest of us "alive" folks being wrapped up in a national election. In my book, the election wins.

2) The government has tested for that and, as incompetent as they frequently are, they're pretty sure I don't have a personality disorder.

14. Ok try this

Well sometimes planes crash too killing a few hundred people. And when it does I stop to reflect on how lucky it is that I haven't had that happen and to empathize with the families of the dead.

Tonight was a rough night for many and pausing to reflect seems like a human thing to do.

11. I'm on tornado watch duty tonight while I watch the primary results
My good friend in Nashville was narrowly missed by a tornado earlier. She's asleep now, but since I'm three hours earlier than her, I'm watching the storm tracks with instructions to call her if another one comes within 2o miles or so of her.

17. People are dying in Iraq too
I feel very bad for those in the path of destruction in the heartlands but let us never forget that VERY serious things are happening outside our walls. That is why we need real change and leadership in the WH. A step in helping all the pain out there.
