Defeated Democrats serve up anti-Kerry lines to foes
John Kerry's been described as a waffler who blathers, a son of privilege who won't stand up to millionaires, a Washington insider who's a handmaiden to special interests and an inconsistent candidate whose word is no good.

All of that comes from fellow Democrats who ran against Kerry in the presidential primary race but now are pledged to help elect him president. The also-rans in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination have supplied plenty of rhetorical ammunition that Republicans could refire in the fall campaign, although the strategy is not without risks.

It happens every primary election season, to one degree or another: Rivals for their party's nomination criticize one another, then drop out, shake hands and close ranks behind whoever gets the prize. All those nasty sound bites are forgotten, unless somebody from the other side decides to dredge them up.

2. Democracy at work...

someone should go back to the first Dubya (s)election and mine those fields. Would be a lot more productive than all those harrassing threads aimed at those whom are not 100% behind Kerry.

But, I digress...

3. Kerry's record is as much an issue as Bush's dismal record
Even Joe Lieberman pointed out the obvious: that Kerry is on every side of an issue.

The electorate will have to choose between two flawed candidates, and if the early polls are to be believed, it looks like Bush is toast.

6. Are you talking to me?

I posted a news article from AP. I didn't say, or mean to say, or mean to imply the things you ascribe to me.

9. Sorry if I offended. You've only been doing the "Fall in line " stuff
since last Tuesday. Not nearly enough time to make an informed judgment about your authoritarian bent. Sorry.

11. What was that all about?
The poster linked to an AP story and he gets hammered for it?

I didn't see anything about "Fall in line, or else" in his accurate linking. What was that slight for?

16. so we're worrying about that NOW ? A little late methinks.
Kerry is a weak candidate and that has been obvious from the start.

I guess it could be worse though, might have been Dean or Clark.

17. Actually it's his supporters who are writing bush's ad copy for him
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 12:43 PM by DuctapeFatwa
Trying to paint Kerry as some leftist hippie socialist peacenik, when what they should be doing is pre-emptive strikes, to get Kerry's real positions in the public consciousness before bush has a chance to cut and paste the misrepresentations of his supporters.

edit to note that not all Kerry's supporters do this, and most of those who do, in my opinion, are not doing it with the intention of either helping bush out or deceiving anybody, they are just engaging in some wishful thinking :)

18. But who do YOU SUPPORT? What are you advocating?
Besides not electing Kerry, what do you think Democrats like those at the website can do in the 2004 elections to make the world a better place?

19. Nothing new
Most of the time, these sound bites mean zip. Most people who know who primary contestants are, know that nobody really means it.

Anyone swayed by one of these soundbites wasn't going to vote for Kerry anyway.
