I did not think it was possible, but Max Baucus in the Senate has passed an even worse stimulus package than the House "compromise". Doubling the cap and increasing the size of the TARF (temporary assistance to rich families), unemployment extension that only applies to Michigan, and a retroactive tax cut for businesses.
Well, we happen to have two Presidential candidates in the Senate. Which one will lead against this trickle-down stimulus proposal? Which one will speak up for LIHEAP and food stamps and the unemployed in the other 49 states? I called both of their offices yesterday, so they know where I stand. Where are they gonna stand?
I am leaning strongly Obama, but Hillary has an opening here. She claims in her ads that poor people and the working class will not be invisible to her. Here's a chance to put her money where her mouth is. Same for Obama.
And I am not able to watch C-Span. They may have both already failed the test.
